I think it’s a simple but pretty name. And there’s nothing wrong with simple. Alina’s not one I’d use myself, but definitely one I’d like seeing more love for!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with [name_f]Alina[/name_f] it’s just not my favourite. I prefer other [name_m]Al[/name_m] names like [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] (uh-liss-ee-uh) or [name_f]Aliona[/name_f] or [name_u]Alba[/name_u]

I also think I prefer names such as [name_f]Malina[/name_f] and [name_f]Galina[/name_f] and [name_f]Selina[/name_f] to [name_f]Alina[/name_f], I’m not sure I can explain why.

But if you love it that’s great

Nothing whatsoever wrong with it! It’s a nice, pretty name.

[name_f]My[/name_f] only complaint would be that there’s nothing particularly special or distinctive about it to mark it out. It’s got the “A beginning, A ending, attractive collection of sounds in the middle” pattern that so many popular names have now. So even though [name_f]Alina[/name_f] is technically uncommon, it feels a little bland to me.

I think [name_f]Alina[/name_f] is very pretty. I’ve noticed that it’s much more common in Eastern Europe than in Western Europe or English-speaking countries. I’m sure there are probably cultural reasons behind it. (Is there a saint named [name_f]Alina[/name_f]? I’m not that familiar with the history of this name.)

Nothing is wrong with it, although at least where I live I think it would be often mistaken for either or both of [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] and maybe [name_f]Eileen[/name_f]. [name_u]An[/name_u] [name_f]Alina[/name_f] would have to spell her name out a lot.

It’s a great name on its own merits though - sharp and sleek but smooth.

I really like this name. I prefer the similar [name_f]Elena[/name_f] which is why it isn’t on my list. I think it sounds gentle and sweet
