[name]Everett[/name]!!! I just adore it. It sounds so put together and smart, but still approachable and kind. When I imagine everything I want my son to have, I find it all in [name]Everett[/name] (well, and [name]Caleb[/name]. But [name]Caleb[/name] wasn’t really in question here. ha.). I am madly, madly in love with [name]Everett[/name], I think it’s perfect.
Second choice would be [name]Sawyer[/name], I love it a lot and I adore the literary connection, but it just pales in comparison to [name]Everett[/name] to me.
Erm, as for suggestions, it seems like you like literary-ish surnames? I think something like [name]Asher[/name], [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Grayson[/name] (or any [name]Gray[/name] name, really. I think [name]Graham[/name] would more suit your style), [name]Jack[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Boone[/name], [name]Booker[/name], [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Henry[/name], etc. would suit. Then again, that’s pretty much my boys’ list. I really tried not to repeat it, lol, but so many of my favorites I thought you might like. I think [name]Noah[/name] could really suit you, too, it sort of has that literary feel, but it’s quite popular at the moment. Maybe you could use it as a MN? I really love [name]Everett[/name] [name]Noah[/name].
I really like [name]Emmett[/name]. It’s the only one of these I would use. I like that it has ties to a couple of cultures, it being tied to [name]Ireland[/name] and [name]England[/name] as a surname, from [name]German[/name] roots of “whole/universal” and sounding like a word in Hebrew that means “truth.” I’m not into surnames generally, but I find [name]Emmett[/name] to be one of the few interesting ones.
Other ideas:
[name]Hawthorn[/name] - which has surname and literary ties ties via [name]Hawthorne[/name], but is also a nature name. The tree is attractive yet tough and has really amazing thorns as well as fruit and so on and its very hardy. I like botanical names for both genders; there aren’t, however, many great ones for guys.
[name]Hale[/name] - a bit of a surname and a bit of a virtue name via the definition of hale as strong/fit/whole.
[name]Victor[/name] - a vintage-sounding choice that’s fallen out of favour, but has the current -er sound ending and a strong meaning and masculine feel.
[name]Everett[/name]. I love the nickname Rett and I think it’s a friendly and distinguished name. [name]Emmett[/name] and [name]Weston[/name] aren’t bad, but I do not like [name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Austen[/name] or [name]Dawson[/name].
I’d rank them in pretty much the exact order that you listed them. Definate favorites are [name]Everett[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], and [name]Sawyer[/name] in that order. Have you considered [name]Beckett[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], or [name]August[/name]?
It’s between [name]Sawyer[/name] & [name]Austen[/name]. They are just the most boyish to me. [name]Weston[/name] & [name]Dawson[/name] are preppier than my style, but if that’s what you’re into I prefer [name]Weston[/name].
[name]Weston[/name]. This one is my favorite. Nice name and I like the nn [name]Wes[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]. I like this one also. Bit more trendy feel, but I like the nn Rett
I’m not really fond of the others. [name]Emmett[/name] is okay, but feels heavy to me.
[name]Sawyer[/name], [name]Austen[/name], and [name]Dawson[/name] just feel a bit soft to me, especially [name]Dawson[/name]
Thanks everyone! Looks like [name]Everett[/name] wins most of the votes.
My husband’s favourite is [name]Emmett[/name] but I much prefer [name]Everett[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name] or [name]Weston[/name].
I think that I’m going to take [name]Dawson[/name] off of the list. I agree with kala_way that it sounds a little soft. Also reminds me too much of [name]Dawson[/name]'s Creek.
Any other ideas based on my list? I’m open to other names!
