[name_f]Antonia[/name_f]
@snowmaiden intrigued by what it is about Aurelia you don’t like since I’ve been trying to decide if I like it or not ![]()
Ones which aren’t purely because of overuse or bad personal associations:
Theodore (I just hear it in a chipmunk voice every time!)
Everly (just feels like Beverly missing a letter)
Bodhi
Astrid
Layla
Eliot (any spelling)
And I’m really not into surname names at all ![]()
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], and [name_u]Rory[/name_u]
[name_u]Everly[/name_u]
[name_u]Emory[/name_u]
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
This is a great take. I’ll never see Everly the same! I so much prefer Beverly already, and this point just makes my preference greater.
Aurelia
Okay… to preface: this is going to be a slightly harsh review! I don’t find anything wrong with Aurelia. There’s really no concrete reason as to why I don’t click with it. I’m a huge fan of many other romantic names, from Ophelia to Hermione, but Aurelia …just feels like it’s trying too hard. Plus, I don’t generally like names that begin and end with A. Too frilly. I just don’t click with them, and Aurelia is the most snooty feeling of them… to me!
For me, it’s the long medieval sort of names like [name_f]Calliope[/name_f] and [name_f]Artemesia[/name_f]. They just feel pretentious and sort of silly to me. Like I’d love them on a character, but not so much on a real person. Also [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. The picture in my head when I hear this name is absolutely beautiful, but the repeating r sounds are unpleasant to me.
I’ve been carrying around nameberry guilt for not liking [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] or [name_u]Louise[/name_u] / [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] ![]()
Aurelia!
This is just exactly how I feel about it! Usually I like fanciful, maybe even pretentious names but Aurelia has a definite…snootiness for me despite being very pretty. I also know a snooty person who has used it for their daughter so that probably doesn’t help ![]()

So happy to see some love for Beverly ![]()
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], I strongly dislike it. Tried to listen music with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] mentioned, to see the positive points exc but I just dislike it a lot. Literally. And [name_u]Ivy[/name_u], I strongly dislike that too even worse than [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] personally.
For boys, I dislike [name_u]Liam[/name_u].
These four are the names I just cannot get on board with which everyone else loves
Olivia
Lucy plus all her variants such as Lucinda, Lucia and Lucian
George & all his variants Georgia, Georgina or Georgie
Lilith purely due to the religious connotations
[name_f]Julia[/name_f]
[name_u]Alma[/name_u] for girls
[name_u]Greer[/name_u]
Haha, don’t worry, no offence taken at all! And I appreciate the comment dearly - I really value your presence here too.
