So what’s your partners favorite name? And what do you think about them.
For a boy, my dh likes [name]Nicholas[/name] and for a girl he likes [name]Lucy[/name].
I’ve vetoed [name]Nicholas[/name] for years as too popular although it has dropped off so much that maybe it will be useable in a few years. [name]Lucy[/name] is of course going in the opposite direction. I’m a little worried that [name]Lucy[/name] won’t age well as I see it as a child’s name probably b/c of [name]Lucy[/name] from Chronicles of [name]Narnia[/name] plus the “ee” sound at the end (although it doesn’t bother me in some other names - [name]Emily[/name], [name]Hillary[/name], [name]Audrey[/name]).
[name]Connor[/name]'s father’s top picks were [name]Felix[/name] for a boy and [name]Dagny[/name] [name]Wyoming[/name] for a girl. [name]Felix[/name] is one of those names I think are cute but would never want to name my kid that, plus it just makes me think of the cat. [name]Wyoming[/name] i
I hated. It isn’t an appealing sound and is a little too out there for me. I originally didn’t like [name]Dagny[/name] because I thought the sound was too harsh, but it has grown on me and now I’d love to have a little girl named [name]Dagny[/name] someday.
My husband (baring in mind he has just picked from my suggestions as he has yet to look up names for himself) are [name]Rafferty[/name] and [name]Penelope[/name]. [name]Both[/name] names are on my lists; [name]Rafferty[/name] coming 2nd for the boys and [name]Penelope[/name] in the top 5.
I wonder what he will come up with when i get closer to my due date (Oct) and decides to have a look for himself. Last time i remember him mentioning [name]Garrett[/name]??? Erm, No!!
His top picks are surprisingly my top picks, but they werent always.
For a boy he has always been insistant on [name]Andreas[/name]. [name]Andreas[/name] is his fathers mn. He migrated to the US from Germany. My partners mother had wanted to name him [name]Andreas[/name] but his father wanted him to have his own name so they named him [name]Zachary[/name]. He has always wished his name was [name]Andreas[/name] so I think that is why he wanted to name our son that. It took me a couple years to come around to the idea but now I really cant see our son being called anything other than [name]Andreas[/name].
For a girl he loves [name]Cecily[/name], which was originally my idea but he has also fallen in love with it. He loves [name]Oscar[/name] Wilde so as soon as I mentioned it he was sold. I really dont see the names changing, they just feel right.
The only other girls name he has ever had strong feelings for is [name]Eliana[/name], however he now likes [name]Cecily[/name] more. [name]Ive[/name] suggested [name]Elinor[/name] “[name]Ellie[/name]” to him and he really likes it. I’m lucky to have a partner with good taste.
My DH and I have ranked our top names. His top names are: Evianna or [name]Evelyn[/name] (nn [name]Evie[/name]) and [name]Clara[/name], but we’ve settled on a name we both like and its neither one!
We dont know what we are having but I immediately voted [name]Abigail[/name] for a girl and luckily my DH agreed but as for boys names we are at a standstill. While I chose traditional name like [name]James[/name], [name]Jake[/name] or [name]Ryan[/name], his choices were [name]Connor[/name], [name]Liam[/name] and [name]Easton[/name]. I dont like [name]Connor[/name] at all (our last name is way Polish) and have really grown to like [name]Easton[/name], problem is every time I mention another name his response is something like “[name]Henry[/name] isn’t bad… or [name]Connor[/name]” It always comes back to [name]Connor[/name]. We have had to leave my in-laws out of the subject because they are extra pushy with names while my folks aren’t chiming in since their feeling is they named their children & it’s our choice. Only problem is how do I escape [name]Connor[/name]? It’s a tough call
For a boy we both agree: [name]Jack[/name] or [name]Henry[/name]. For a girl, my hubby loves [name]Caroline[/name]. I like it too - the only time in her life I couldn’t imagine [name]Caroline[/name] working is as an infant (it’s such a long name for such a little person …)! He’s got good taste - I’m lucky! :o)
We’re TTC #1 and its taking forever! Anyway, its always been [name]Gabriel[/name] Andras (Andras is hubby’s name) for a boy as both our number one choices. We joke that we love the name so much that if we have two boys, it’ll be [name]Gabriel[/name] 1 and [name]Gabriel[/name] 2 because we don’t really agree on any other boy names! I love [name]Noah[/name] but he thinks it would be a bit too religion-heavy to have both boy’s names be Biblical.
For girls, I’m sold on [name]Eliana[/name] [name]Iman[/name] or [name]Amalia[/name] [name]Yasmeen[/name] and his number 1 pick is Amelle. The problem is I can’t find any meaning for Amelle and meanings are really important to me, so I can’t agree with it Now if I could find a meaning for it and it turns out to be beautiful, then we’re all set- at least for baby #1!
for a girl my partner only liked [name]Clementine[/name].
For a boy he likes Nine, [name]Maxwell[/name] and [name]Stetson[/name]. Nine is a NO. [name]Maxwell[/name] is nice but to pop so only in mn spot. [name]Stetson[/name] I like but a little hard to say.
To sgc:
According to babynamesworld.com, Amelle is an Arabic origin name meaning “hope, expectation”. Nice meaning and the name is pretty. Good luck with your choice
My husband’s top pick for a boy is [name]Michael[/name], which I’ve agreed to because it is a family tradition. If our baby is a boy, he will be the 5th [name]Michael[/name] in the family.
The name he suggested for a girl is [name]Fiona[/name], which I love a lot and I really think that’s what we’re going with if baby is a girl.
My husband gets very attached to certain names so I have to be sure I really love a name before I suggest one. If we have a girl, I don’t see us naming her anything but [name]Fiona[/name] even though he loves [name]Evangeline[/name] (as do I, just not quite as much as [name]Fiona[/name]).
Boy names get more tricky. I went through a [name]Braxton[/name] phase, and even though I’ve moved on, he is stuck there! I keep gearing him toward [name]Elliot[/name] (my current favorite) or [name]Nathaniel[/name] (a play on my husband’s name), but he keeps going back to [name]Braxton[/name]. I guess since he gave in after he saw how in love I was with the name [name]Fiona[/name], I should give a little with the boy names. Especially since no single boy name really jumps out as “the one” and [name]Braxton[/name] was my suggestion initially.
My DH is convinced we will never have a girl, I think he’s scared! So he doesn’t have a pick. But the other day he told me he likes [name]Tucker[/name] for a boy, I have no idea where that came from! LOL! I think it will be a middle name at best.
[name]Cordelia[/name] is his favourite girl’s name.He’s a big fan of [name]Lorelei[/name],[name]Mercy[/name] and [name]Tallulah[/name]
For boys I think it’s [name]Rufus[/name].
My SO loves the name [name]Jeremiah[/name] for a boy… personally, I would rather cut off my own foot than name my son [name]Jeremiah[/name]. Not for my baby, lol. :o)
For girls, he likes [name]Sophie[/name], [name]Katherine[/name], and [name]Susannah[/name]. The first two are definite “No” from me, [name]Susannah[/name] I could deal with. We agree on names probably 50% of the time… could be better, could be worse.
My husband suggested one boys name this whole pregnancy–and I fell in love with it: [name]Vincent[/name]. So our little guy (29 weeks now!) is going to be [name]Vince[/name]/[name]Vinny[/name].
For girls, he’s in love with the name [name]Savannah[/name]. I said no way–too popular for me, and in any case, I’m not a big fan of names with -anna/annah endings. I just don’t really like the name [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Annie[/name], and wouldn’t want it used as a nickname.
He loves [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Claire[/name]. I do, too… how can you not like [name]Henry[/name]? But my taste is a bit more spunky, so we’ll see how it goes.
My husband’s favorite girl name is [name]Amanda[/name]. I am not a fan. He only likes it because of a Walon [name]Jennings[/name] song “[name]Amanda[/name]”. He has no idea how dated and popular it is/was. He also loves [name]Diana[/name], because she is the goddess of hunting and the moon. Not so bad, but I just can’t get myself to like it.
For boys he likes wierd names: [name]Elvis[/name], [name]Ace[/name], [name]Earl[/name], Walon, [name]Danger[/name] (as a middle) and some other wierd things but he would never really use them (not that I would let him!). Realistically he likes really traditional names: [name]Henry[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Richard[/name], [name]Charles[/name], etc. which I find a little boring but are good as middle names.
