I don’t think my naming style is defined by any specific name. My favorite names can range from ‘trendy’ to out of the top 1000, from vintage to ‘too 80s/90s’. The names I choose have special meaning to me and often all don’t fit into the same style.
I have an “eclectic” style and I think many Berries do too. I like classic single syllable names ([name_f]Claire[/name_f]), flower names ([name_f]Violet[/name_f]), mythological names ([name_f]Hermione[/name_f]) and vintage names ([name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f]/[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]). There are even some names in the top fifty that I love (shock horror like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Abigail[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Hannah[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Zoe[/name_f]. I also know what I don’t like: boys names on girls and most unisex or occupational names. But like every preference, there is always room for the odd one to crop up without reason
I like a lot of different types of names but the ones that go up front in all my combos are the long, elegant unusual ones (generally. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is the exception). And I have a daughter named [name_f]Persephone[/name_f].
I think the only way to describe my style is “off the grid.” While I like a few names that are rare but at least heard of, most of the ones on my list for an actual kid are completely unheard of/unused.
My naming style doesn’t fit. I like a bunch of different names, some are considered ‘different’ others Are considered ‘usual’, or top 100’ and others aer old fashioned. For example, some of my faves:
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]/[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Jane[/name_f]
Well, it depends on which of the options in each category that I choose!
I love [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f], but not [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Maeva[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] all right, but I really like [name_f]Hermione[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], but am generally okay with the others. I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], but not [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] or [name_u]Stacy[/name_u] or [name_u]Casey[/name_u]. I like [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] (and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f]), but not all of my favorite girls names are floral—they just tend to be vintage.
