When did first start becoming interested in first names?

what age etc?

I’d say when I was 14/15ish. I got my grandma’s reading kindle when my grandparents were moving out of their house and into independent living, and it had limited internet access on it. Most websites I couldn’t visit, but there were a few name list sites that it had access to, so I poured over those, and then started making lists on my phone.

So early I don’t actually remember but I would guess around 6. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom had a small name dictionary she’d been given with other info pamphlets when she was pregnant that I found and read through obsessively. [name_f]My[/name_f] interest ramped up even more when I was about 14 -16 and found name site and forums on the internet.

Oooooh I love this story! I’m not sure on the exact age, but my guess is 9 or 10 years old (later Elementary school). That’s when I can remember my creative writing being talked about by teachers/my parents. At some point around then, I saw a mini baby names book at the grocery store and begged my mom to buy it, so I could find names for characters that I was writing about. She did buy it for me (I may still have it, I hope I uncover it one day, if I do). I would just sit and read it like a book and think about the names I had never heard before and imagined what kind of people had those names :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I found out the meaning of my own name when I was about 8? and that was it really. The interest stuck!

When I was around 12.

I was only about 5

I think I was always mildly interested in names. When I was little, I often flipped through my mom’s baby name book, and would frequently ask her the meaning of different family member’s names, as well as her own personal favorite names. I didn’t start really keeping a list of my own til I was about 15 or 16.

I’ve always been somewhat interested, probably more so when I bought a baby name book at around 9 since I was interested in writing and wanted to use it to name characters. Idk I guess it’s always been something kind of at the back of my mind, I still wouldn’t say it’s a major interest of mine by any means but I’m probably a little more into in it than most people.

I decided at around eight that I would have seven children (all girls) and wrote down a list of their future names, so that’s probably when my interest began.

A lot has changed since then, including my naming taste! I first started participating in online naming communities and making serious name lists when I was around 13, and I’d say that’s when I got seriously into naming.

In third grade I started make really complicated names for my writing assignments (Emmalinia, Feira, Iseleke)
