When your favourite names all coincidentally begin with the same letter...

Does this happen to anyone else?
I don’t even usually like when twins have the same beginning letter but I’ve found myself liking names that begin with A for some reason haha! [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] for girls and all of a sudden I’m in [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] with [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] for a boy! I have no children so the chances of these remaining my favourites and me having 2 girls and 1 boy are slim but would that be ridiculous to have three children named that or is that not so weird?

Thanks!

For boys we’ve found there are only a few letters we like for first names S&L and we have a list that are our favorite names and then realized that they are all a or l names on the boy list and we are just going to run with it and see how it plays out

Oh yes, it’s so aggravating! [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Joachim[/name_m], [name_m]Julien[/name_m], and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]; [name_f]Catalina[/name_f], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], and [name_f]Caia[/name_f]; [name_m]Damian[/name_m], and [name_m]Dominic[/name_m]; [name_m]Marius[/name_m], and [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. I am forced to use only two of each, but it all works out. I am also in love with the name [name_u]Arlo[/name_u], but it’s just a bit too nickname-y so I decided I would give it a full name… [name_m]Charles[/name_m]! That may help solve part of your dilemma, at least : )

I’m all about the A names too. Trying to expand these days but I always come back to the As.

Mine tend to sound the same as well. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], [name_m]Marcus[/name_m] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] and [name_u]Madigan[/name_u] and [name_m]Malachi[/name_m]. [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. [name_u]Seth[/name_u] and [name_m]Stefan[/name_m] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. ‘Ma…’ names seem to be my favourite!

This happens to me, a lot. Many of my favorite names start with C. [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_m]Caleb[/name_m], [name_u]Casey[/name_u], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Conall[/name_m], [name_m]Connor[/name_m], [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], etc. I would never give all my children names with the same first initial, because I think that’s tacky and contrived. I think a good rule is, no more than two with the same first initial if there are three or more children and if those names don’t sound alike.

Haha glad it’s not just me! It seems when you like a name for it’s sound it’s no wonder we are attracted to other similar sounding names! And yeah I think three with the same first letter would be a bit much as addie88 says, two is fine but three is odd!

For months I have been searching for new favourites that don’t begin with E, but keep finding more E favourites!

When it comes to naming a family I won’t be as concerned-hopefully-if they have different beginning sounds (our top names are [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]).

Also on the list:
[name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Ewan[/name_m] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_f]Esther[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle/name_f!

I can see why you’re stuck on E names, those are all gorgeous!

I love a lot of A names. I think for a while in the 90s “K” names were popular here in the U.S. I read something about that recently. Anyway, my extended family gave birth to [name_f]Kaitlin[/name_f] & [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f], [name_f]Kiara[/name_f] & [name_f]Kyla[/name_f], [name_u]Kieran[/name_u] & [name_u]Kyle[/name_u], [name_f]Kimi[/name_f] & [name_m]Kenneth[/name_m], all cousins in the same generation.

You’re not alone! Most of my favourite names begin with A- [name_u]August[/name_u], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Alec[/name_m], [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_m]Archer[/name_m], [name_u]Alfie[/name_u], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]… I also love F names- [name_u]Finn[/name_u], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_f]Florence[/name_f] and E names- [name_m]Emrys[/name_m], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Ethan[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f].
I would try to only use 2 names starting with the same letter to prevent the letter from looking like a theme. There are very few girls’ names that I love, so I would use my favourites even if it meant having names starting with the same letter.

I have a thing for A’s, C’s, E’s, J’s, L’s, R’s and S’s. But that’s for my list in general. On my short list, I have a lot of A’s and E’s, most prominently ([name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_f]Elowen[/name_f], Eddard/[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]).

Yes! And I hate hate hate it! I don’t want it or ask for it but it happens. Alot of my names, all S’s… and as it is, my child has a double S name. For girls and boys, I just love S.

Oh yeah and it happens alot with A’s too and probably equally M’s… but S 100 percent more than those.

Haha yeah I have a lot of S names, too! Hopefully when the time comes and if I have more than two kids I will find different names to love so they don’t all alliterate, haha!

All of my favorite names are very similar…almost too similar! I love ‘A’ names, including [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] for girls and [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] for boys. I also love ‘E’ names, including [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_f]Esme[/name_f] and [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] for girls and [name_m]Eric[/name_m], [name_u]Evan[/name_u] and [name_m]Ethan[/name_m] for boys. [name_f]Lydia[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u] and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] are favorites, too, but they’re too similar.

I too have the same problem and it’s very annoying. I like lots of girl names that begin with I, such as [name_f]Imogen[/name_f], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] etc. I also like boys name that begins with A, which seems like a popular letter. I like [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_u]August[/name_u] etc. I also love the F sound, like [name_m]Felix[/name_m], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_m]Phineas[/name_m], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f]. I wouldn’t have more than two of my kids with the same letter, and I wouldn’t want them to be next to each other.

I found a lot of names I like start with R or involve the letter S (most cases R and S), which makes no sense to me since I have a form of synesthesia and usually find S and R’s very ugly and unwanted. I really can’t stand SH yet there is one name exception that I do think I could use regardless of my distaste.

The two prettiest letters I’m always drawn to are E and J, both shimmery green and silvery letters and names that I find the most appealing. I tend to love Vowel filled names and perhaps the names with R and S also have strong Vowels that make it work?
