I voted [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], but I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m], and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m] and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] too. The problem with all these names for me is I don’t like the nicknames for them (ie [name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Ned[/name_m], [name_m]Ted[/name_m]).
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is a family name for me so I prefer that name. However, [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is a fine old Anglo-[name_m]Saxon[/name_m] name too. I like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Herne[/name_m]. The [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Noble[/name_m] is my fave of the [name_m]Edward[/name_m] options even though I’m not crazy about the repeated w’s in [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m].
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m] - this one has repeated w’s and “ill”.
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Aliasdair [name_m]Valor[/name_m] - repeated d’s and r’s
Of those two I much prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. I see [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] as a more sophisticated [name_m]Edward[/name_m], and I love the association with Sir [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_u]Hillary[/name_u].
[name_f]My[/name_f] personal favourite ‘[name_m]Ed[/name_m]’ names are [name_m]Edric[/name_m] and [name_m]Edouard[/name_m].
Of your combos I love [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Noble[/name_m] and [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Herne[/name_m]
Thanks for your replys
@emsky : Thanks
I don’t like neither [name_m]Ed[/name_m] & [name_m]Ned[/name_m] as a nn. I adore [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] & Dare for [name_m]Edward[/name_m] but i’am not sure for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] .
@mischa : Thanks
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Herne[/name_m] is a favorite of mine too. I agree about what you say for the rest of the combos.
@freddiethepink : Thanks
I agree about [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] feels more sophisticated. [name_m]Edric[/name_m] is great. It reminds of [name_m]Cedric[/name_m]. In Greece the only usable version of [name_m]Ed[/name_m] is Edouardos which I dont like at all. The combos you select are my favorites too
Any other opinions?
Also a nn for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] besides [name_m]Ed[/name_m] & [name_m]Eddie[/name_m]?
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite nickname for all “[name_m]Ed[/name_m]” names is [name_m]Ned[/name_m]. I just like the friendly and approachable boy-next-door vibe that [name_m]Ned[/name_m] gives off.
I like [name_m]Edwin[/name_m].
I’m on Team [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]!
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]'s dashing and lovely, and I like the nns of [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and Dare, and I do like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Noble[/name_m] and [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m] the best. I do like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] better in general, but I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] nearly as much, and I do like the [name_m]Edward[/name_m] combo better.
I think [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m] is my favorite–so dashing and literary! I love it. I know you like the Twilight connection, but I love the [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] and Sense and Sensibility connections–both Edwards are such dashing and charming guys! It’s such a great name, and has a lot of great nns.
I like [name_m]Edric[/name_m] best too!!
I like [name_m]Edward[/name_m] and [name_m]Edison[/name_m].
[name_m]Edmund[/name_m], definitely. It’s so handsome. Much more refreshing to me than [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. Of your combinations I like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Herne[/name_m] the best. [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m] or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m] would also sound great.
I also really like [name_m]Edouard[/name_m]. I actually prefer that to [name_m]Edward[/name_m] which, despite its wonderful literate associations, easily gets a rather heavy older feel.
I voted for the third option because my favourite [name_m]Ed[/name_m] names are [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] and [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]. But, out of your choices, I much prefer [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. Out of your combos, I love [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] [name_m]Valor[/name_m], so dashing and handsome!
Thanks all of you for your opinions, comments & votes! I really appreciate it
I was surprised by all the [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]'s fans. It really grown on me.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite nn for [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is [name_m]Ward[/name_m]. I am not fond of [name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is nice but I prefer [name_m]Edwin[/name_m].
but [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] is gorgeous!!!
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] is the least exciting b/c so standard. But [name_m]Ward[/name_m] is a super cool name.
[name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is cool.
I even like [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], though it has an ugly edge to it.
And I love [name_m]Ned[/name_m] or Nod as a nickname, can’t stand [name_m]Ed[/name_m] or [name_m]Eddie[/name_m].
I also voted [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]. There’s so many great associations – [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] Dulac the illustrator, [name_m]Edmond[/name_m] Dantes from The [name_m]Count[/name_m] of [name_m]Monte[/name_m] Cristo. I’ve met Edwards and Edwins but never an [name_m]Edmund[/name_m].
Thanks guys for all the help!
Question : [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] can word as a nn for [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] ?
I prefer [name_m]Edgar[/name_m]
I like [name_m]Edgar[/name_m], so cool. I also like [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] and [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]. [name_m]Edward[/name_m] is okay.
