I quite like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. It has the same gravitas as your other boy combos, and I think as a pair the two names flow very nicely together. My runner-up choices are [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Perseus[/name_m].

[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Felipe[/name_m] is divine.

Whaaaat? I get sick and take a wee NB break and come back to this? :frowning: I can’t believe [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] (more specifically, [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m]!) is gone! le sigh. I loved that combo. I like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] (although I prefer [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Balthasar[/name_m]) and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] best from these options.

Top choice would be [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. Second either [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m] or [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] Rhydian, though Rhydian is close to [name_u]Rhys[/name_u].

With [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] [name_m]Godfrey[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m], [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], I like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] or [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m].

[name_m]Godfrey[/name_m], [name_m]Marcellus[/name_m], and [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] are all rarely heard names with a sort of ornate, medieval quality to them. They remind me of elaborate stained glass window mosaics like the kind you see in old cathedrals. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] needs a middle name with a similar feel, and [name_m]Serafin[/name_m], [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m], and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] are the only choices that have that quality. My favorite is [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m]. [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] is just an awesome, awesome name.

Thank you everyone for your opinions.

More thoughts please!

I’ve narrowed my list down to:
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Perseus[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m]
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]

I’m not quite in love with any of the combinations yet. Any suggestions would be helpful.

@[name_u]Ash[/name_u]
I still love the [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]/[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m] combination. It’s not completely off my list, but I am thinking of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] more for a first name.

@freddiethepink
I didn’t even noticed how close Rhydian and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] were look wise. The sounds are different, but I don’t like that they look so similar.

Well I see they’ve been nixed, but my favorites were [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] and [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Truman[/name_m]. I also agree with @ash in that I love(d) [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m]!

I would love to hear more thoughts on the final four combinations. I can’t choose between them. In a little bit I’ll add a poll.

ETA:
To the people that voted, could you please tell me why you voted for your chosen combo? It’d helped me make my choice.

I really had trouble picking just one in the poll, so I’m happy that you asked for our reasoning!
I voted for [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], because I really like how they sound together, and also because I love the name [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] (though I may prefer [name_m]Augustine[/name_m], if only because St. [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] is the name of a church in our diocese).

However, I also really like [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m]. [name_m]Rolan[/name_m] (without a D, I think) was my great-grandfather’s name (he went by [name_m]Rollie[/name_m]), and I’ve always thought [name_m]Roland[/name_m] was an under-appreciated classic.

My third choice would have been [name_m]Perseus[/name_m], though it’s not up there quite as high as [name_m]Roland[/name_m] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. The more I say it, though, the more in love I am with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. Maybe it’s the pairing of an ancient [name_m]Roman[/name_m] emperor and a famous biblical figure (as opposed to a famous biblical figure paired with a more nineteenth-century British sounding name, in my opinion), or maybe it’s the syllables again, but whatever the reason, I just adore it! However, as it looks like [name_m]Roland[/name_m] is in 1st place, I’ll be happy regardless.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps! Oh, and I saw your signature. I, too, am a name collector. It’s just so much fun, isn’t it?

Thank you for your detailed comment [name_f]Carly[/name_f]!

I’ve actually thought of using [name_m]Rolan[/name_m] because I wasn’t fond of the ‘d’ being pronounced in [name_m]Roland[/name_m]. When I first heard [name_m]Roland[/name_m] the ‘d’ wasn’t pronounced, but it seems like that is the correct way. I prefer the sound of [name_m]Rolan[/name_m], but I think [name_m]Roland[/name_m] has a better balance look-wise.

I’m leaning more toward [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. While I do love [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] I think it’d go better with a more simple name. [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] isn’t out there, but I think it has a bit more pop than names like [name_m]John[/name_m] and [name_m]Robert[/name_m].

It is. It also is kind of addictive.

For anyone interested in the poll tally:
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] 13 votes
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Perseus[/name_m] 7 votes
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m] 18 votes
[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Balthazar[/name_m] 9 votes

I did two polls. One on nameberry and one on BehindtheName so I combine the votes.

[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m] seems to be the front runner and it’s definitely in my final two. I think I’m leaning towards [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] though.

I’m going with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], but I’m a bit worried about the ‘a’ sounds at the ending of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and beginning of [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. Am I the only one that notices that? It’s probably just me over-thinking.

[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m] got my vote. Handsome combo! Runner up would be [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m].

No. I was actually going to mention this as a consideration when choosing between [name_m]Roland[/name_m] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]! I know lots of people who don’t let this kind of thing bother them, so you don’t need to let it bother you, but this is one of the things I notice and try to avoid in my own “dream combos.” It’ll just mean you’ll need to pause an instant between saying [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_m]Augustus[/name_m], so they don’t run together.

Between the two, I would have chosen [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m]. I love the sound, including the shared L, and [name_m]Roland[/name_m] has a dash and gallantry about it that augments the bold O.T. imagery of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] very nicely. [name_m]Roland[/name_m]'s underused status also complements the popularity of [name_m]Elijah[/name_m].

I also like [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], just not as much as [name_m]Roland[/name_m], except for the look of the two names together. [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] is longer than [name_m]Roland[/name_m], making [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] look more…I don’t know…finished?

[name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m] has the best flow.

@auroradawn

I’m glad it’s not just me! I’m one of those people who doesn’t like things like that, but I love how [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] looks. I’m going to put my [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] combos aside and just look for another middle.

That’s definitely why I was choosing [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]. It just looks right and complete while [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_m]Roland[/name_m] makes me think it needs a second middle.
