Which first name for middle name Brooke?

I’ve been a long time lurker that finally got the courage to post. I thank all of you for the beautiful and creative name suggestions that have been posted already.

My husband and I are expecting our first, a girl, in the beginning of [name]April[/name]. We know that her middle name will be [name]Brooke[/name] after our niece who is feeling a little worried about having a new baby in the family. However, we are undecided on a first name. Which one do you think works with [name]Brooke[/name]?

[name]Katherine[/name] -love this name, our last name ends with a “in” sound so it has a ring to it. Worried about it for two reasons. 1 [name]Kate[/name], [name]Katie[/name], etc seem to be popular nicknames in Massachusetts and 2 there is a close family friend named [name]Katherine[/name] so it would not be unique to our family

[name]Avery[/name]- I love this name for a girl, but the popularity of it scares me. Although my dh and I are both teachers (for over 8 years) and I’ve never had an [name]Avery[/name] and he just had his first [name]Avery[/name] this year, I worry that when our girl is in school every kid will be named [name]Avery[/name].

[name]Charlotte[/name]- just always love [name]Charlotte[/name], but it too is increasing in popularity. I love the nickname [name]Charlie[/name]. My mom hates it… Not sure it goes with [name]Brooke[/name]

[name]Mary[/name]- this is my moms choice. Classic, I’ve only taught 2 [name]Mary[/name]'s. It’s a family name, my favorite aunt is [name]Mary[/name] and its my moms middle name.

Which one do you like best with [name]Brooke[/name]? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for your insight.

[name]Bethany[/name]

I like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] the best.

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] sounds and looks nice, but it is rabidly popular on girls and it’s still quite popular on boys, too. Besides, I’m not a huge fan of unisex names on girls (it seems, for the most part, that you like classic girls’ names, as well), so it seems a bit out-of-place here.

I like [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] a lot, and I’m a sucker for the nn [name]Kate[/name], but if it sounds a bit matchy with your LN, I would probably drop it. I just picked a random -in surname, and I think [name]Katherine[/name] Nicklin doesn’t sound the best… it’s not awful, either, though…

[name]Mary[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] is cute, but for some reason I automatically thought of Storybrooke and story book, because of the new TV show, Once Upon a Time. I don’t know if that would bother you… It has a lot of strong vowel sounds, though, so I don’t think it flows the best. Still, [name]Mary[/name] on a little girl today would be so stunning!

[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name], though… I think it’ll always be classic. [name]Charlotte[/name]'s just stunning, and it sounds very sweet with the more modern [name]Brooke[/name]. I think [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Brooke[/name] sound very cute as cousins, too, haha.

Good luck!

1 [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] - A classic name with a nature name. Great nn’s of Charlie or Lottie. My fave.
2 [name]Mary[/name] [name]Brooke[/name]- I’d love to see [name]Mary[/name] chosen as a first name again. It’s such a gem! Mary has a lot of wonderful nn’s too: Molly, Polly, Mamie, Mae etc…
3 [name]Avery[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] - I’m not a huge fan of this trendy name but this combo does flow well
4 [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] - I love the traditional [name]Katherine[/name] but the flow seems off with [name]Brooke[/name]. It may be where the two r’s fall in each name.

Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I appreciate it!

Since [name]Brooke[/name] has a prominent “R” sound, and all your name choices seem to, also, I’m not crazy about any of them with [name]Brooke[/name]. My favorite is probably [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name].

[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] is quite lovely. You could always use [name]Katya[/name] as a nn.

[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] nn [name]Carly[/name] is cute too.

[name]Mary[/name], if you don’t like the name [name]Mary[/name], then you can always use a variation of it. [name]Maren[/name] [name]Brook[/name] or [name]Maura[/name] [name]Brooke[/name].

[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] is my choice!

[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] and [name]Katherine[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] are my favorites

[name]Avery[/name] [name]Brooke[/name] would make an extremely trendy combo. Classic choices like [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Mary[/name] and [name]Charlotte[/name] blow it out of the water, sorry. Maybe a more classic Av- name? [name]Aveline[/name] or [name]Ava[/name]? [name]Avery[/name] has steadily risen in popularity since 1999, from 206 to number 23 in 2010.It’s been in the top 100 since 2003 and has been on a steady rise.

[name]Charlotte[/name] has had a slower rise and is at number 45 right now. [name]Charlotte[/name] is more timeless, though and I think a lot more sophisticated and adult. (But has sweet nicknames)

[name]Katherine[/name] has gone down in popularity over the past 10 years. number 70 in 2010 and it looks like its been steadily slipping. [name]Katherine[/name] is like the epitome of class and sophistication. It has a timeless grace that few other names have.

[name]Mary[/name] - this one is my favorite. It’s another ultimate classic, like [name]Katherine[/name], but shorter and I prefer the sound. I love the nickname [name]Molly[/name], but [name]Mary[/name] ages very well and will sound sweet on a child and grown up on an adult. Her popularity has been on a downward spiral, too - which can only be a good thing, lol. It’s droppedmore than 50 spaces in the past 10 years

Wow…you all have given me many things to think about. Seems like [name]Avery[/name] is definitely out.

I really like [name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Brooke[/name]! It is the prefect balance of sweet and spunky
