Which full name for Harry?

[name]Hi[/name] berries-

It’s been about two months since I last posted and my husband and I aren’t much closer to naming our twins. We have, however, agreed on the name [name]Harry[/name] if one is a boy (I have a strong feeling both are). I think it bridges our taste and we love [name]Gus[/name] (our son) and [name]Harry[/name] together. But which full name should we choose?

[name]Harrison[/name] - my husband’s pick
[name]Henry[/name] - my pick

Or should we just put [name]Harry[/name] on the birth certificate? I know it can stand alone, but [name]Gus[/name] has a full name ([name]August[/name]), so shouldn’t [name]Harry[/name], too?

I’d love your feedback!

Thanks!

I prefer [name]Harrison[/name] simply because the nickname [name]Harry[/name] seems more intuitive for that name.

[name]Harrison[/name] works better imo. I can’t see [name]Harry[/name] being a nickname for [name]Henry[/name], sorry… another option would be [name]Harold[/name], but I don’t like that as much as [name]Harrison[/name].

Either would be fine as [name]Harry[/name] is a traditional nickname for [name]Henry[/name] and with [name]Harrison[/name], it’s just intuitive. I’ve always liked [name]Harold[/name] as a full name for [name]Harry[/name], but I know that’s not everyone’s style.

What middle names are you considering? That would probably help with the decision making.

I love [name]Henry[/name]! As is, or as a full name for [name]Harry[/name].

Not a fan of [name]Harold[/name]. Sounds dusty and old to me. I like [name]Henry[/name] better as a name, but [name]Harrison[/name] is more likely to naturally be called [name]Harry[/name]. I would DEFINITELY pick a full name!

I like [name]Henry[/name] much better.

I like the name [name]Henry[/name] better than [name]Harrison[/name], but I like the nn [name]Harry[/name] better from [name]Harrison[/name].

The nn [name]Harry[/name] seems more prominent with [name]Harrison[/name] … I do love the name [name]Henry[/name] though  My vote is definitely for [name]Harrison[/name] on this one! <3

I think you should go with just [name]Harry[/name]. It’s a perfect compromise for the two of you and sounds lovely with both [name]Gus[/name] and [name]August[/name].

I would definitely just go with [name]Harry[/name] as the full name. I think it’s a gorgeous name on it’s own and I goes well with both [name]Gus[/name] and [name]August[/name]. [name]Harrison[/name], for me, doesn’t go with [name]August[/name] that well and I find [name]Harry[/name] as a nickname for [name]Henry[/name] a bit strange.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! I’m surprised that some of you find [name]Henry[/name] nn [name]Harry[/name] strange. It’s definitely an established nickname, just as much as [name]Teddy[/name] for [name]Theodore[/name] (which is also on the list).

We really don’t know what to do. Please keep the feedback coming!

I prefer [name]Henry[/name]. As you say, [name]Harry[/name] is a diminutive/traditional nickname for [name]Henry[/name].

I prefer [name]Henry[/name] with the [name]Harry[/name] nickname.

What about [name]Herrick[/name], [name]Harvey[/name], [name]Harrison[/name]?

[name]Harrison[/name] would be my pick  [name]Harrison[/name] and [name]August[/name], gorgeous

All the very best

I absolutely love the name [name]Henry[/name], so that is my choice. Although, [name]Harrison[/name] is great too. You can’t go wrong either way. Maybe wait until you see the babies to decide?

I’ll vote for [name]Harrison[/name] nn [name]Harry[/name]. I love [name]Henry[/name] but I dislike using [name]Harry[/name] as a nn for it.

I had no idea that Harry was a nn for Henry… and personally, I don’t like Harry as a nn for Henry. Good to know though.

While I love Henry, I think Harrison is a better fit for the nn Harry. Plus, I love the name Harrison as well. Can’t really go wrong with either.

I love [name]Harrison[/name]! And the nn is more intuitive for it. I’m not a huge fan of [name]Henry[/name], and I’ve never really understood how [name]Harry[/name] is a nn for it, tho know it is. Either way will be fine tho!

[name]Henry[/name]! [name]August[/name] and [name]Henry[/name], nns [name]Gus[/name] and [name]Harry[/name], are just fabulous together, imo.

Good luck!
