I like [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f], because it seems to place the emphasis on “[name_f]Mira[/name_f]” rather than “belle” spelled that way. [name_m]Even[/name_m] when I pronounce, I stress the sounds a little differently than if spelled [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f].
I like Mirabel. But I’ve considered Mirabelle and decided I should insert my usual K.I.S.S. (keep it simple silly) policy when it comes to name spellings. (Unless there is a cultural or pronunciation reason why you choose one spelling over the other - ie. I prefer Theodor over Theodore because in German the e is pronounced and makes the name sound a little feminine - as most of my family are native Germans this is a concern for me. If they were English I’d go with the traditional Theodore).
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] is my favourite, because the only [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] I know spells it this way. I think it’s really lovely.
I usually prefer the least fuss with spelling ([name_f]Anabel[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]) but in this case, [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] looks like it’s missing something. I think with [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f], the charm is in the frills.
I adore [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f], love [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] and like/love [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]. But any of those three are lovely choices, [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] feels like an awkward smoosh of [name_f]Mary[/name_f] + [name_f]Belle[/name_f], rather than the lovely [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] though, so I’m not a fan of that.
In order:
[name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Maribel[/name_f].
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is polished and elegant. [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] looks overdone and [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] is over-the-top in frills. [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] is a completely different name than [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] and it’s pronounced differently as well.
[name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] is a long time favorite of mine - I would prefer for [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] to not be shortened to [name_f]Belle[/name_f] so I would go with the [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] spelling. I love the name [name_f]Mira[/name_f] on it’s own and as a nickname for [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] takes away from the [name_f]Mira[/name_f] part.
This doesn’t have to do with the spelling of that name, but [name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]'s nickname could be [name_u]Arlo[/name_u].
