Thank you to everyone who suggested middle names for Jane! I have a whole list now, and would appreciate feedback on which name you like best and why. And which names don’t work and why!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] – I like the spark that Beatrix adds to simple, classic [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. They make a great pair!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] – [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is so bright and sunny and really pops as a middle for [name_f]Jane[/name_f]!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] – Matilda’s length complements Jane’s, and I like the spunky vibe and sound of them together.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] – I believe I used to have this combo in my own list, and I really like the way elegant and rare [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] sounds with [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Both feel strong and literary to me, and they balance each other well.
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] are timeless classics that sounds great with [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f], [name_f]Leona[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] are more uncommon, and they balance out well with [name_f]Jane[/name_f].
The only one I think doesn’t really work is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. It just doesn’t sound quite right, with the repeating sounds.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites would be [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Calista[/name_f] - so lively and bright- [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] -Gorgeous and balanced - and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] -light and sweet
My favourites are Jane Beatrix, Jane Louisa, Jane Rosalind, Jane Marigold, Jane Gwendolen and Jane Theodora!
If I had to pick a top 3:
Jane Beatrix - This just has the cutest, spunky-vintage feel
Jane Marigold - I love the sweet, nature-y Marigold with the classic Jane
Jane Louisa - Simple but so sweet
I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f], & [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]! You have such great options!! If I had to choose just one, though, I would have to say… probably [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]. It just sounds so pretty and sweet
I like ……
J@ne [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
J@ne [name_f]Isadora[/name_f]
J@ne [name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
I think I like the contrast of a common, basic, classic, simple, short name like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] with names that have many syllables and sound regal and formal.
The standouts for me are [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Calista[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Alessia[/name_f]. All of these middle names are uncommon and to me underused. I like the three or four syllables next to [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and the fact that none of them shares sounds with [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - that adds a new level of appeal to me. (Alessia obviously does have plenty of "a"s but no long “a” sounds like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] does.)
I don’t dislike any of these combos but my least favourites are [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Maren[/name_f] (because they do share some sounds and [name_f]Maren[/name_f] is shorter so the shared sounds aren’t broken up by much else), [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (because I find [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] tricky to pronounce but that may just be me), and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (the rhythm doesn’t appeal to me like a lot of the others do).
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] sounds best with at least 3 syllable middle names imo. And it’s such a pretty name!! [name_f]My[/name_f] personal favorite is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorites are [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] for the alliterations.
