Which M name

We originally settled on [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. Then I recently came across [name_f]Maren[/name_f]!

So…
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_f]Maren[/name_f]??

[name_f]Maren[/name_f]! There’s also [name_u]Marion[/name_u] and [name_f]Maven[/name_f] :grinning:

I prefer [name_f]Maren[/name_f] myself, as to me, it looks and sounds a little more modern and has a light-ness to it. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], while not too bad, does feel a little dated and heavy to me.

I love both, so it’s hard to say, but there are a few questions that make a difference. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like nicknames? If so, then [name_f]Maren[/name_f] might be a perfect nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. If not, then I’d choose the more tailored [name_f]Maren[/name_f]. Are you settled on a classic? [name_f]Maren[/name_f] has history, but [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is one of the ultimate classics. Overall, I slightly prefer [name_f]Maren[/name_f], but you can’t go wrong either way

Love Maren!! It’s beautiful and soft feeling and I love the meaning

It depends what feel you’re going for though. Margaret is nice too with lots of nickname opportunities and it also feels down to earth and very classic. Maren has a slightly more modern and rugged feel

Both are good names; [name_f]Maren[/name_f] is modern and sleek, [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is strong and classic.

Adding to our roster of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m], we named our third child [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], and she goes by [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. It’s sweet on her as a toddler and I think it will grow well with her, too.

Good luck!

[name_f]Maren[/name_f] definitely! [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is very outdated.

[name_f]Maren[/name_f]!

[name_m]How[/name_m] do you pronounce it? In my country it rhymes with [name_f]Karen[/name_f], but I’ve heard someone say it like [name_f]Marin[/name_f] in English before. Both pronouncations are nice imo though

Both names are so cute! I prefer the name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] personally, but [name_f]Maren[/name_f] is a very pretty and more modern name. Either would be beautiful!

I guess I’m in the minority here, but I just love [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. I think it’s a lovely name and doesn’t need a nickname, but if you decide to use one there are a few nice options. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of [name_f]Maren[/name_f] before so to me it sounds like a made up [name_f]Karen[/name_f] alternative.

I prefer [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], but I like both. I think it would depend more on middle/last name.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I like [name_f]Maren[/name_f] more. It’s fresher, more unique, but still really pretty and not too out there. It seems sweet for a little girl, but mature enough for an adult.

That all being said, I love the nns for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] more than [name_f]Maren[/name_f]. In order: [name_f]Gerty[/name_f], [name_f]Maisy[/name_f], [name_f]Peggy[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f]. So many cute options.

So, I was no help. I guess it depends on how your feel about [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nns.

I prefer [name_f]Margaret[/name_f]. [name_f]Maren[/name_f] has sort of a harsh sound to me, and it’s not as classic.

[name_f]Maren[/name_f] is beautiful and sweet. It always reminds me of the ocean/sea. However, I have to go with [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] because it has been one of my favorite names for years. [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is an amazing classic name.

Both are good choices. I like the look of [name_f]Maren[/name_f], it’s short length and clean lines. It’s substantially less common than [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], in fact, I would say it’s obscure based on where I live. Having said that, I don’t think it would be too challenging for people to spell or pronounce. [name_f]Maren[/name_f] sounds international to me, it feels spunky and carries androgynous vibes. It’s form reminds me of of some traditional male names like [name_u]Darren[/name_u], [name_m]Aaron[/name_m], [name_m]Soren[/name_m] and [name_m]Marek[/name_m]. It’s also the name of a common seafood where I live, a type of crayfish spelt [name_u]Marron[/name_u].

[name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is timeless and unquestionably feminine. As already mentioned by others, it’s quite flexible in terms of nicknames. If you like nicknames, this could be a great way to define your style and make her name more distinct. Some other forms of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] include: [name_f]Margot[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f], [name_f]Meg[/name_f], [name_f]Mae[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] and [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. Some unrelated but also great alternatives to [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] include: [name_f]Magdalena[/name_f], [name_f]Marlena[/name_f], [name_f]Marisol[/name_f], [name_f]Martina[/name_f], [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], [name_f]Marietta[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f].
