We love both …. I feel like the flow may be better with Tobias. It’s also feels less common and so I think it’s cool. But I love the meaning of Theodore “gift” considering this baby was a surprise and we feel as a gift to our family. I also like Theo as a potential first name so knowing if he didn’t love his first, that he could choose Theo to use vs Toby (which we don’t really love the nn). But Tobias is the first name that fills the space in my head when I say his name. Maybe because we’ve considered it so seriously so long?! So indecisive!
I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] flows really well with [name_m]Asa[/name_m], and all the other reasons you mentioned make it a great choice. I’d go with [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
It may be because you’ve made me fall in love this combo completely (and your initial combo [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] [name_m]Cole[/name_m]) but I honestly love it, he’s so very handsome
When it comes to a potential nickname of a middle name in case he won’t like his first name, I don’t think that [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] needs to be necessarily shortened to [name_m]Toby[/name_m]. [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is easy to pronounce, very short and very handsome on his own
I do like [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] best, but then I love [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and [name_m]Toby[/name_m] so
[name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] flows well too and meaning-wise and nickname-wise it feels like a good choice for you.
Maybe you could try alternating between calling the baby [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] to see if [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] still feels like the intuitive one or if [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] starts to feel more/as natural?
[name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m] would make a cute nickname for either I just realised (since [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] → [name_m]Teddy[/name_m] → [name_m]Bear[/name_m] and [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] → B A → Bear) so that could give [name_m]Bear[/name_m] as a an alternative for either Might not be for you though
I’d go for [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] – like you, I just find [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] a little more fresh and interesting than [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]! I don’t know many people who go by a nickname of their middle name when that wasn’t already planned before they were born, so I wouldn’t let that be what you base your decision on
I like [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] better… I love the classic feel of him (Tobias is timeless, but [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] feels more classic? Idk if that makes sense lol), and I love simple, classic names with [name_m]Asa[/name_m]. I do like the option of [name_m]Theo[/name_m] if he doesn’t like [name_m]Asa[/name_m], but I also like that [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] isn’t quite as singsongy… [name_m]Asa[/name_m] [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] has some repeated sounds (A’s and S’s) so it feels a bit singsongy to me. Both are beautiful, though… and if [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is your first instinct…. He could be the one? [name_f]My[/name_f] first instinct is usually the option I truly want, but I guess we don’t all think the same
I think Asa Tobias sounds very cool and unique! I know it’s not everyone’s taste but I think a double middle with Asa Tobias Theodore would actually sound really cool! That way he could have the option of using Theo, Toby or Asa! Additionally, in case you just want to stick with one middle, I think that Tobias itself would be a cool name to go by if he doesn’t want to go by Asa in the future.
