I think I’d choose [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] just to avoid the pronunciation and spelling confusions of [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f]. (Unless its a well known name in your area)
Would [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] be short for anything? It feels too nicknamey to be a first name to me, but maybe you like that.
I’d use it as a nn for [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as an alternative to [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. Or for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
I agree with meganleda about [name_f]Lettie[/name_f].
Although [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f] is very pretty and feminine, I might avoid it given the possibility of pronunciation confusion. (However, if you don’t think that’s an issue based on the area you live in, I think it is the prettier of the two options.)
I prefer [name_f]Lettie[/name_f], (I like those -ttie nickname names), and think it’s old-school enough to work on its own. However, meganleda offered some great full name options - I think [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a clever way to personalize a name whose popularity is booming. Other full name possibilities: [name_f]Alouette[/name_f], [name_f]Loretta[/name_f], [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f].
I really like [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]; feisty, cool and a lovely vintage charm. And I think [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] and [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f] could work well together, but as pps have mentioned there are longer options that could work too.
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] as a standalone - love it!!!
I prefer [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (-lehn), so I vote [name_f]Lettie[/name_f]! [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] is fresh and spunky… I like it.
I love [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f]. I’ve been such an advocate for it for years but I do think it could be confusing and the popularity of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]/etc doesn’t “cheapen” it but it does make me very hesitant. Much like I love, love, love [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] but [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] takes some joy away (named my dog Isaboe instead. Not as harsh when people mishear it.
[name_f]Lettie[/name_f] is cute,
I prefer [name_f]Lettie[/name_f], to avoid spelling confusions; besides, there are way too many Maddies around for my taste. I do agree with choosing a more formal name, I think it’s a good idea, and there sre many possibilities:
[name_f]Juliet/name_f
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Angelette[/name_f] (too cute for me)
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Elettra[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet/name_f
[name_f]Letitia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nicolette[/name_f]
[name_f]Paulette[/name_f]
ok so I am just here to add another -I like [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] -(lehn) pronunciation, allowing for accents
and [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] -would be such a good nickname-
I prefer a surprise. ‘It’s short for [name_f]Leticia[/name_f]’ response -to 'No its just ‘[name_f]Lettie[/name_f]’. (Pretty, but why not add some mystery?)
I prefer [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f] of the two, and I think the pronunciation’s pretty self-explanatory really… [name_f]Lettie[/name_f] is nice, though is perhaps a little unsubstantial as a full name.
