I personally would probably avoid O sounds with the OO sound in [name]Moody[/name]. [name]Maeve[/name] is nice if you like alliteration, Not everyone does, but I think it can be good.
I voted [name]Scarlett[/name], as I found it the easiest to pronounce with Moodie, and it’s a great name
[name]Thea[/name] sounds best (pronounced [name]Tay[/name]-a), and I just really like the name…I had an aunt with that name.
I wouldn’t do [name]Greer[/name] Moodie because, well that name just sounds so dull, grey, boring, gloomy. [name]Just[/name] not a good image. I think [name]Elora[/name] is the best because it’s a light, pretty name that balances out the boring/gloomy sounding Moodie.
I voted for [name]Thea[/name], but I like [name]Maeve[/name] too. [name]Indigo[/name] Moodie gives me connotations of a blue mood/depression, but maybe I’m over thinking it.
I choose [name]Elora[/name] as my favorite choice because I think it has the most upbeat sound.
With a last name like Moodie I think it’s important to take the full sound of the name into consideration. I would probably stay away from names that have a more melancholy sound (which personally I love) - esp since Moodie sounds like moody which according to Dictionary.com can mean “given to gloomy, depressed, or sullen moods; ill-humored”. I’d do my best to choose a name that counteracts that. [name]Elora[/name] does that for me.
[name]Indigo[/name] - purpulish-blue -> blue -> sad -> see above.
[name]Greer[/name] - Not a fan of the repetition of repeating vowels in both names. Also [name]Greer[/name] has a slightly harsher sound with the softer last name it doesn’t flow as nicely.
[name]Maeve[/name] - [name]Maeve[/name] Moodie make [name]Moody[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] to flowy. Feels like an unfortunate nn and an easy one to avoid. (Though I do love [name]Maeve[/name]).
[name]Thea[/name] - I prefer [name]Thea[/name] as a nn to [name]Theadora[/name].
[name]Enora[/name] - I prefer [name]Elora[/name] because the “L” sound is more uplifting that the “N” sound. See [name]Elora[/name].
[name]Scarlet[/name] - makes me think of [name]Scarlet[/name] O’[name]Hara[/name] who is well very moody. It feels a little too on point.
Personally, I wouldn’t choose a word first name like [name]Indigo[/name] or [name]Scarlet[/name] with your surname Moodie. They’re just too descriptive. I think [name]Thea[/name] Moodie sounds and looks the best.
[name]Indigo[/name] is my favorite name out of your choices, but [name]Scarlet[/name] sounds really good with Moodie too. My pick would be [name]Indigo[/name] Moodie or [name]Scarlet[/name] Moodie.
I agree with [name]Mischa[/name] that you should probably avoid first names that sound like adjectives.
I chose [name]Elora[/name] because I think it is a beautiful and unique name. I like the sound of it better than the similar [name]Enora[/name], but that would work as well. [name]Thea[/name] also sounds fine with your last name. =]
I still love [name]Scarlet[/name] Moodie. I just love the sound of it. Sounds famous, fabulous, flamboyant, strong. Yes, it’s possible that she’ll be a moody teenager and people might say she’s red-hot and moody, or whatever… When you’re a woman, someone at some point in your life is going to call you a b*%$#. I just don’t see the name [name]Scarlet[/name] really contributing to that. I also like fiery [name]Maeve[/name], and I like the alliteration. [name]Elora[/name] would be third on my list, but I find it a little oddly gentle next to Moodie.
[name]Just[/name] had a great thought. Why was [name]Scout[/name] vetoed? I love it. [name]How[/name] about [name]Scarlet[/name] nn [name]Scout[/name]?? I think [name]Scarlet[/name] Moodie is totally fine. I don’t see the color as a problem at all. I can sort of see it with indigo but I don’t really think that’s a problem either. I vote for [name]Scarlet[/name]! Especially if you get to use the nn [name]Scout[/name].
I still really like [name]Maeve[/name] too though!
so your last name only sounds like moody or is actually the word [name]Moody[/name]… if it’s the second I wouldn’t use [name]Indigo[/name] or [name]Scarlet[/name]
The ones I like best either way are [name]Greer[/name] (I think it sounds great, spunky, sweet) and [name]Maeve[/name] (I adore this name and it works if your last name sounds like [name]Moody[/name] or actually is [name]Moody[/name], alteration is cute and sweet but still able to age well in my opinion)
The first name I thought when I saw the title was [name]Susie[/name] but I really don’t know why [name]Susie[/name] [name]Moody[/name] I just like the flow… weird huh lol
