Which one?

We have narrowed down our list to two names as of now… looking for opinions!

Henry (cons: a bit boring for our personalities, won’t necessarily match our Italian and Spanish last names, very popular right now which is a negative for me)

Lucian (cons: everyone will have an opinion, pronunciation issues but I grew up with the most unique name so it’s nothing new for me, hard for my spouse to picture a baby named this but can easily picture an adult)

Would love to hear your opinions! Thank you!

(Note: the whole “Lucifer/Lucian” connection is a stretch… no need to mention it… plus, there are a handful of Saints named Lucian!)

Update: I cannot believe we already have a 5-month old!!! His name is Lucian . Thank you all again for your comments!

Definitely [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] !

Another vote for [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] - much less common than [name_u]Henry[/name_u] yet has an established history.

[name_m]Lucian[/name_m]! I think it would fit wonderfully with any age. When we choose a name for baby it somehow just becomes him and far better to choose a name that will suit an adult than one that feels a bit childish. It’s a winner IMO.

Which pronunciation of [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] do you use?

I definitely say go for [name_m]Lucian[/name_m]! It’s a cool name. [name_u]Henry[/name_u] is fine but it is boring in my opinion. Your cons for [name_u]Henry[/name_u] feel more like real cons to me. You don’t want to pick a name and then feel like it doesn’t fit your personality. I’d much rather pick a controversial name than a popular name that feels boring to you.

“Loo-shuhn”. I like the idea of “Loo-cee-an” but that makes more sense for the [name_u]French[/name_u] spelling [name_m]Lucien[/name_m].

In that case, I prefer [name_u]Henry[/name_u].

[name_m]Lucian[/name_m] is gorgeous - I like the different pronunciations, it has a nice meaning and feels elegant but fresh! There’s also nicknames for when he’s younger, like [name_m]Luc[/name_m], [name_f]Lua[/name_f], [name_u]Luca[/name_u], [name_u]Lou[/name_u], Luie

Out of interest, how would you be pronouncing it?

I like [name_m]Lucian[/name_m] too!
And using nicknames when he’s younger is an idea. [name_u]Lu[/name_u], [name_f]Lulu[/name_f], Loo, [name_u]Lou[/name_u], [name_u]Lucky[/name_u], and lots of others I can’t think of right now!
