I prefer Clar-uh for [name_f]Clara[/name_f] and I like [name_f]Claira[/name_f] for Claire-uh, but overall I prefer [name_f]Clara[/name_f].
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] (Clar-uh) feels elegant, timeless and intelligent. [name_f]My[/name_f] associations are [name_f]Clara[/name_f] from doctor who, [name_f]Clara[/name_f] from the [name_f]Paradise[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] from the nutcracker.
Claira/Clara I associate with the old lady in Enchanted who pronounced it this way…that was the first time I’d heard it said this way…and a friend who pronounces it this way, who is incredibly sporty. To me the [name_f]Claira[/name_f] pronunciation feels more dated, but maybe slightly lighter and frillier.
First of all, no matter how you pronounce [name_f]Clara[/name_f], it is a gorgeous name! Timeless, elegant, gentle, regal and peaceful. It’s bright, youthful and fresh!
[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite pronounciation is cla-ruh/cla-rah, like [name_f]Lara[/name_f] with a C. I think it sounds sweeter than Claire-uh. It’s also the traditional pronounciation where I live.
I used to only like [name_f]Clara[/name_f] with the Clah-ruh pronunciation. I eventually made myself accept Claire-ah, seeing as I live in the US! I now prefer it that way, as it just sounds sweeter (Clah-ruh feels elegant, but a bit cold imo).
I prefer [name_f]Clara[/name_f] said like KLAH rah!
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] with this pronunciation - reminds me of my sweet sponsored girl (and my beloved Brazil), the Nutcracker, holly berries and leaves, the nostalgia and beauty of family, love, and generosity.
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] like Claire-ah - idk, I heard this story on the radio once that was dramatized and the one girl was saying [name_f]Clara[/name_f] in this annoying, nasally, singsongy voice (like [name_f]Claire[/name_f] ah), and it just feels so grating to my ear. I love that KLAH rah feels softer and lighter and has ties to so many nostalgic things for me. Claire-ah also makes me think of cows lol. Where I’m from, all the lady cows seem to be called [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f], and [name_f]Betsy[/name_f]
