I saw that this name was on the top 20 for the UK however I have never met a sofia/sophia! Is it really that popular? What do you think of the name?
Thanks!

[name_f]Sofia[/name_f].
I hate the name [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], for no reason whatsoever, and can’t bear the [name_f]Soph[/name_f] part in [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. I also pronounce [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] differently, but only slightly.
I’m quite undecided… think [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] looks more regal and elegant but feel like [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] is more approachable and softer.
I prefer [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] over [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] over [name_f]Sofie[/name_f].
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] for me!
I like [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] better.
a) It is far less common
b) the harder F (opposed to PH) feels stronger
I prefer the [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] spelling. It looks fuller and more elegant to me, personally. I kind of like the name, but I’ve never truly liked it. I prefer [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], myself.
To answer your second question, yes, it’s really that popular (I’m in the US, but the popularity doesn’t seem to be very different on the charts). There’s four [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]’s/[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]’s in my both of my son’s classes at school. That’s not including the [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]’s/[name_f]Sofia[/name_f]’s that have been in various mommy & me classes and that we’ve come across out and about.
I genuinely like them both the same but if I had to choose [name_f]Sofia[/name_f], it gives a lot more too the name and makes it look a lot more pretty and takes it away from [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] with I don’t like and also means there is less likely of soph as a nickname if you don’t want that.
I prefer [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]. It is a lovely name, but since you asked, I am in the U.S. and know dozens of girls by this name.
I prefer [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. It looks more elegant to me.
One more vote for [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]!
