I am a big fan of traditional spellings, and I think [name]May[/name] just looks prettier. I wouldn’t want to constantly be telling people, it’s [name]May[/name] with an E not a Y…

[name]May[/name], for sure. [name]Mae[/name] does look pretty but like @naomi13 said, they’d just end up correcting people all of the time!

Thank you [name]Naomi[/name] and [name]Elena[/name].

[name]Both[/name] are pretty but I’d go with [name]May[/name], the y adds a sense of strength while the e just looks flimsy.

I like [name]May[/name] better for a first name and [name]Mae[/name] better for a middle name.

[name]May[/name], definitely. [name]May[/name] just seems so much purer and prettier than [name]Mae[/name]. [name]Mae[/name] is just…I don’t know, but it definitely lacks all of the beauty and fresh flowers that pop to mind when I think of the name [name]May[/name]. I usually go for the classic spelling anyhoo.

I have different images for each spelling. [name]May[/name] is a month and the name is gentle and sweet. [name]Mae[/name] is spunky and sassy (think of actress [name]Mae[/name] [name]West[/name]). I used to like the classic spelling [name]May[/name] more but I’ve learned to love [name]Mae[/name] now.

I like them both equally, but I voted for [name]Mae[/name] because it has a certain “je ne sais quoi” about it.

I prefer [name]Mae[/name].
To me, [name]May[/name] looks overused, mainly from being a month name, and [name]Mae[/name] looks very cutesy, like a person’s name.

I really like both, but I lean more towards [name]May[/name].

I like them both, but prefer [name]Mae[/name]. [name]May[/name] is a month and a question, “[name]May[/name] I have some more, please?” [name]Mae[/name] is a name and nothing else.

I prefer [name]May[/name] as it’s the traditional spelling and it invokes the month for me, which reminds me of flowers, fresh cut grass, spring BBQ’s, bonfires - that kind of thing.

Funny you should say that, considering [name]May[/name] isn’t even in the top 2000 and [name]Mae[/name] was 803 in 2011.

I voted for [name]May[/name], but I don’t really have much of a preference between [name]May[/name] and [name]Mae[/name]. It depends on what it’s being paired with. [name]Mei[/name] is my favorite spelling for “may”.

I agree with what a lot of others are saying - [name]May[/name] is a month name, and I don’t particularly like month names. Whereas [name]Mae[/name] is cute and different, and a great middle name. Where I live I don’t think there’d be spelling issues at all - I think [name]Mae[/name] is the more common way of spelling it, and [name]May[/name] seems a bit outdated compared to [name]Mae[/name] so most would assume a young girl would spell their name [name]Mae[/name].

I prefer [name]Mae[/name]. It looks feminine and romantic, where [name]May[/name] just looks like the month.

I like [name]May[/name] sooooooooo much better. I can’t pinpoint why, but [name]Mae[/name] just seems bland and uninspired, while [name]May[/name] feels clean, spunky, and pretty.

[name]May[/name] - I prefer traditional spellings.

Thanks everyone.
