[name_f]Carys[/name_f].
I kind of like the look of [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] but it makes me want to say “sare-iss”.
I agree, casilda - I really like [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] but it think it would be more likely to be mispronounced/misspelled.
Thoughts on the spelling: [name_f]Kerys[/name_f]? Does it read “care-iss”?
I’d like to consider a “K” spelling to honor my mother in law (middle name [name_u]Kay[/name_u]).
[name_f]Carys[/name_f] is pronounced ‘KAH-riss’. [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] is ‘KEH-riss’.
Therefore the traditional Welsh [name_f]Carys[/name_f] or the Greek homonym [name_f]Karis[/name_f], if you want a K spelling to honour your mother in law.
That’s funny since I originally learned the pronunciation I prefer from Nameberry - it says “CARE-iss” for the spelling [name_f]Carys[/name_f]. I’ve skipped over this name in the past because of the spelling/pronunciation controversy but I keep coming back to it because I think it’s such a sweet name.
