[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] for me

I’ve always preferred [name_u]Vivien[/name_u]. For some reason it looks more refined to me, perhaps because it’s the English spelling, and it reminds me of [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] who I’m a huge fan of.

They’re basically tied for me. I’m liking [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] right now, but I think that’s just because it reminds me of [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] (my fave). [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is an exception to my general tendency to favor simpler, less frilly spellings. It strikes me as sweeter and more romantic.

[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is the original spelling and I think it looks the best. I pronounce them both the same (I would pronounce the [name_m]French[/name_m] version [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] differently with the emphasis on the last syllable).

FYI - [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] was born [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].

I like [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] the best, but out of [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] vs. [name_u]Vivien[/name_u], I think that [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is the way I would spell it if I heard it out loud. People may misspell it less than they would [name_u]Vivien[/name_u].

I only like the [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] spelling.

[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]/[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] never appealed to me, I actually dislike them. The first little girl with the name that I met spelled it [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] and I instantly liked it, and that spelling just looks ‘right’ to me. I’ve seen it criticized on Nameberry a lot though for being too ambiguous on pronunciation… but I say them all like ‘viv-ee-un’ anyway.
