I prefer [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. I can’t say why, it just looks more natural to me.
I love [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] with this spelling.
I love [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]! This spelling is what I automatically use. [name_m]Shepard[/name_m] would be my second choice.
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] is a man who herds sheep and [name_m]Sheppard[/name_m] just looks misspelled… This just doesn’t feel like a name to me, sorry to say! Too occupational for me to see as a person’s name. I guess if I were to suggest one over the other it would be [name_m]Sheppard[/name_m] to dissociate from sheep a little bit.
I agree with the PP that [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]/[name_m]Sheppard[/name_m] isn’t really a practical first name. However, I would prefer the spelling [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m].
I prefer [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]. It seems like the most intuitive spelling because of shepherds, obviously.
I say go with the original spelling of [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]!
