[name_f]Alana[/name_f] is my favourite. I am also in the UK and al-ar-na is how I pronounce it.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourite spelling is [name_f]Alana[/name_f] and the people that I know with this name spell it like [name_f]Alana[/name_f]. I find that [name_f]Alana[/name_f] also fits the best with [name_f]Josephine[/name_f].
[name_f]Alana[/name_f]
I am totally bias , because it’s my name but I much prefer the spelling [name_f]Alana[/name_f] !
Thank you everyone! It’s interesting no one is voting for the untraditional [name_f]Alanah[/name_f] with one n! I lean towards [name_f]Alana[/name_f] but it’s short in comparison to [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], not sure if that really matters
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f] looks very pretty and is a longer name but my intuition is to pronounce it like [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] / [name_f]Savannah[/name_f]
I prefer [name_f]Alana[/name_f] as it would be easier to spell
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f] (I’m biased, it’s my middle name ) is lovely! I much prefer it personally! [name_f]My[/name_f] second choice is [name_f]Alana[/name_f].
[name_f]Alannah[/name_f] and [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] are so sweet!
Aw lovely! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you pronounce it like [name_u]Arna[/name_u] or like [name_f]Anna[/name_f]?
[name_u]Arna[/name_u]!
I should add, here in [name_f]Canada[/name_f], it’s mispronounced a lot, but my friends and family from the UK have never had an issue with the -arna sound!
That’s great to know! I’d always thought I preferred the [name_f]Alana[/name_f] spelling due to the pronunciation but if [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] will also be pronounced with the ‘arna’ sound most of the time I do prefer that spelling on paper! I don’t mind correcting some people occasionally as long as it’s not the majority of the time!
I think you should be fine with [name_f]Alannah[/name_f] in the UK!
I like [name_f]Alana[/name_f] best.
This would be my assumption as well!
For sure Alana, the others are the more uncommon spellings and might be confusing to write. I think Alana is also the prettiest spelling. Alannah would sound like Hannah to me.
I personally like [name_f]Alannah[/name_f]
