We have an older daughter [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] (mn [name_f]Mary[/name_f]) and are expecting our second (team green) and likely final baby in [name_f]April[/name_f]. If it’s a boy we plan to use [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. We have flip flopped on our girl name a lot but keep coming back to two options and have flip flopped between them all pregnancy. Husband likes both equally, so it’s up to me to choose the winner. I’d rather decide before baby is born as I don’t want to make big decisions right after I’ve had a baby lol.
Concern with [name_f]Annette[/name_f]: too dated? Not as chic as [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]?
Concern with [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]: starts with “el” syllable like [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and the middle name will be [name_f]Elda[/name_f] which is an honour name which is really important for us to use. So much “el”!
Nicknames would likely be [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cece[/name_f], although we’re not big nickname people and tend to use full names.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband has vetoed [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] which would be my two tops if he wasn’t involved. I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (back to that el sound), but we both agree it’s too similar to Delphines name (she’s often shortened to [name_u]Del[/name_u]).
My vote goes to [name_f]Annette[/name_f]! [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_f]Elda[/name_f] is a bit hard to say, and I overall prefer [name_f]Annette[/name_f].
I’d vote for [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]. Neither [name_f]Annette[/name_f] nor [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] sound incredible with [name_f]Elda[/name_f] but middle names aren’t used that often anyway and I just think [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is the prettier name.
I think celeste and delphine are absolutely delightful together, and both carry a gentle, whimsical feel. annette, however, feels a little dated, and a little less magical. celeste elda actually sounds really elegant!
I don’t think you can go wrong with either. They’re both lovely and sound great with [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. I’m going to pick [name_f]Annette[/name_f] because I find it more unexpected and I prefer [name_f]Annie[/name_f] over [name_f]Cece[/name_f].
I like both names with [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], but [name_f]Annette[/name_f] does sound better with [name_f]Elda[/name_f] and [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and [name_u]Del[/name_u] are a really sweet sister set. [name_f]Annette[/name_f] could also be Nettie or [name_f]Ettie[/name_f]/Etta.
Annette was my grandma’s name. I always try to make myself like it, so that maybe I could use it to honor her someday. And I think that I don’t like it, until I hear of somebody considering it for a real life baby. And it gets me very excited! I don’t think that it’s too dated. I think that it’s just the right amount of dated to be unexpected & charming. [name_f]Annette[/name_f] [name_f]Elda[/name_f] does sound a little bit better too. And [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is way cuter than [name_f]Cece[/name_f] in my opinion. That being said, I do think that [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is quite nice & perfect w/Delphine. [name_f]Annette[/name_f] is just so much more interesting. And it fits well w/Delphine too.
Annette seems heavy & dated, especially next to the elegance of [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]. I much prefer [name_f]Celeste[/name_f]! And I think [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] [name_f]Elda[/name_f] is lovely!
I would pair [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] on their own but, with nicknames and middles considered, I think [name_f]Annette[/name_f] is the way to go.
Celeste gets my vote! [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] and [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] are lovely together. I’m not bothered bi the repeating -el sound in both names.
Celeste [name_f]Elda[/name_f] is lovely, and I don’t think it’s complicated to say at all. I think [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] sits next to [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] much nicer than [name_f]Annette[/name_f].
Annette! There are not many little [name_f]Annette[/name_f]’s. And [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is very sweet.
I met one child [name_f]Annette[/name_f] at my daughters school and the minute I read her name tag on her desk, I just thought her name was fabulous!
