I love [name]Rose[/name]! It’s refreshing to hear it as a first name rather than a middle name. I like [name]Ruby[/name] also, but agree that it’s becoming too popular for me.
As for [name]Hazel[/name], it’s not my cup of tea, but it’s still a lovely name and is adorable!
If we ever have another girl, I want to name her [name]Rosemary[/name], nn [name]Rose[/name], so my vote goes to [name]Rose[/name]! I know way too many [name]Ruby[/name]'s (and I am in the Southern US), and I just don’t find [name]Hazel[/name] that pretty (and I tend to like pretty names). BTW, I don’t think the classics [name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Emily[/name] are in anyway the equivalents of [name]Jason[/name] or [name]Brandon[/name] as far as names go, and as far as those girl names, I think your SO has good taste.
missriss: I hear ya on the old lady-ness of [name]Hazel[/name], but for me, that’s the appeal! We also like [name]Hazel[/name] for the tree, and it has a special meaning as my grandfather was a logger I also love [name]Ruby[/name] on According to [name]Jim[/name]!
catloverd: I love [name]Rose[/name]'s sophistication, too. You’re after my heart with those [name]Rose[/name] combos! [name]Rose[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] especially makes the ticker skip a beat! Thank you so much for all of your suggestions!
julia johanna: [name]Rose[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] is swoon-worthy! I definitely have to run this by Mr. J
gigigibbons: I have never thought about using [name]Rue[/name] as a nn for [name]Ruby[/name]! [name]Love[/name] that!!
jaderain: Great minds think alike, no? Thanks for your well wishes!
aguafresca: Aw, your [name]Hazel[/name] story is so sweet! Thank you for sharing it. It just endears [name]Hazel[/name] to me more.
adare6183: Thank you for your input! [name]Hazel[/name] is taking the top spot for me.
maris 0416: More [name]Hazel[/name] love! Woot!
irexshicanbabe: [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]'s popularity is concerning me–thank you so much for taking the time to put down the numbers here. [name]Rose[/name]'s consistency is appealing.
samjmc: I’m tickled pink that you and some others are so pleased to hear [name]Rose[/name] in the first name spot! Sets my heart aglow!
boyandgirl: [name]Rose[/name] love! Weee!
thecougheys: I’m so jealous you have a [name]Ruby[/name] in your family! Thank you for your input
saraallison: Thanks for the [name]Rose[/name] love! I completely agree with you that [name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Emily[/name] are not on the same level as [name]Brandon[/name] and [name]Jason[/name], and I certainly wasn’t comparing them. I actually quite like [name]Sarah[/name] and [name]Emily[/name] and they really are timeless. I mentioned those four together specifically because, no joke, they were the only four that Mr. J suggested for YEARS. Drove me banana sandwich.
Mr. J and I had a chat and he quite likes the name combos I like. What are your thoughts on:
[name]Hazel[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] (mn after my grandma)
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Samantha[/name] (mn after my sis)
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] ([name]Matilda[/name] was one of the nixed longer names on both of our short lists!)
[name]Rose[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] (mn after my great aunt and cousin)
I love [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Rose[/name], but [name]Hazel[/name] still sounds too old ladyish to me. [name]Ruby[/name] is too popular for my taste, so I would pick [name]Rose[/name]. [name]Rose[/name] on it’s own or [name]Rose[/name] names are lovely. Instead of [name]Hazel[/name], I would go with [name]Aveline[/name]. It is very pretty and not too popular.
I really like [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Rose[/name] [name]Matilda[/name]. I also think [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Matilda[/name] would work nicely (I’m not a fan of [name]Samantha[/name]).
[name]Love[/name] both of your [name]Rose[/name] combos, esp [name]Rose[/name] [name]Matilda[/name]! All your names are lovely. You can’t go wrong.
Well, you know, I had to defend “[name]Sarah[/name],” as my name is [name]Sara[/name]. [name]Glad[/name] you don’t see it as a female [name]Jason[/name] or [name]Brandon[/name]. Haha!
I like [name]Hazel[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name], but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Rose[/name] for a first name just because she’s sweet, sassy, and rarely ever heard in the first name place. Honestly, you can’t go wrong!
[name]Rose[/name], [name]Ruby[/name], and [name]Hazel[/name] would make an awesome sibset [name]IMO[/name] I like [name]Rose[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] the most. [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] [name]Samantha[/name] are great too. They’re made to be sisters:D
I’ve never been a huge fan of [name]Hazel[/name] - it’s a great name, but not one I personally love. The style is great, but I don’t care for the sound.
[name]Ruby[/name] is lovely. It’s spunky, vintage and quirky.
[name]Rose[/name] is beautiful - it’s short and strong, yet beautiful and sophisticated. I like seeing up front instead of stuck in the middle.
Thank you, everyone, for your opinions! I talked with Mr. J, and he seems satisfied that all three of our names received an equal amount of love. Now, just to convince him that we need to have more than 2 kids to use all of these marvelous names…
