I think I’ve noticed a pattern in my two middle combos. I usually tend to feature one name each of 1) classic/familiar. 2) modern/fresh and 3) unexpected/ unusual
The unexpected/unusual name is normally a word name too, and sticks to a middle spot. Lately I’ve been in love with whimsical word names. Things like:
Firefly (found yesterday on nb)
Daylight (found with firefly)
[name_u]Bright[/name_u]
[name_f]Snowdrop[/name_f]
Lively
Carousel (I’ve been mulling this over…it’s a nice image. I used to adore carousels when I was little!)
So dish me your favorite whimsical word names! Ones that when added to a pretty name seem to bring a certain sparkle with them, that give a name that cherished storybook quality.
Can’t wait to see what you brilliant berries come up with!
Some of these may be too serious for you, but I like:
[name_f]Muse[/name_f]
[name_f]Moxie[/name_f]
[name_u]Hero[/name_u]
[name_f]Rhapsody[/name_f]
Fly
[name_u]Lyric[/name_u]
[name_f]Saga[/name_f]
[name_f]Sonata[/name_f]
[name_m]Bravery[/name_m]
Tenacity
Wow thanks for the replies! I knew you guys could come up with some great things! I really like [name_f]Muse[/name_f], Fly, [name_f]Mystery[/name_f], [name_u]Shade[/name_u], Shimmer, Time, [name_f]Journey[/name_f], [name_u]Echo[/name_u], Whisper, Darling, [name_u]Silver[/name_u], Sparkle, Tinsel, [name_f]Evening[/name_f], Twilight (ashame about this one, really), Wildflower, [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f], And Equinox!
I do like many of the others, but some I already had on my list.
I know you may think some of them sound ditzy but I think with two other solid names, it’s the perfect amount of…well, whimsy!
I really like the name [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. I have similar naming conventions as you do, though in most cases my third name is nerd-cred literary like [name_m]Twain[/name_m], [name_u]Austen[/name_u], Wilde and [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m]. The exception is [name_u]Winter[/name_u]. I don’t know what it is but there’s something magical about the thought.
I’m so glad there are others who agree with me! From your lovely suggestions I’m admiring [name_f]Briar[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Oceana[/name_f], [name_u]Ever[/name_u], [name_u]Magic[/name_u], [name_m]Night[/name_m], [name_f]Eira[/name_f], Evenstar, Loveday, Mayfair, Windsong, [name_f]Buttercup[/name_f] and [name_f]Tigerlily[/name_f]!
@omviam: that’s exactly what I mean! They are just so enchanting. @eriset: glad you like it and thanks for the bump! @penelopeann: I love winter, especially as a first name! @moonblossom: yes, only for middles. Most of these would raise eyebrows as first names, no matter how pretty.
@kalaway: I agree there are some that I think translate as first names. [name_f]Breeze[/name_f] I have on my fn list and I adore [name_f]Lace[/name_f]!
