Why can’t I commit to Georgina?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! I’m due with daughter #2 soon. I really wanted [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] when I was pregnant with my first, but couldn’t commit and went with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Really love the name [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], but can’t commit for baby #2. What are your thoughts on georgina? Nn would be [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] or [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]. Other choices are [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f].

I had the same issue with #2. Thought committing to my other favorite name would be a snap. In reality, we had to go back to the list and rethink some things. You’ve changed in the time since #1, so no surprise your name tastes might have settled slightly different. Personally, I think [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] is gorgeous, and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] and [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] are also beautiful choices.

I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] together! You have awesome taste!

I think a lot of people change a bit throughout the years and specially after becoming parents, and I agree with pp in finding [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] beautiful. I personally would prefer [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] nn [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] or [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] to [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], but it all depends on personal taste.

I love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]!
It’s easy to spell and pronounce, has a lot of cute nicknames and it’s vintage and fun. It also has a Southern belle vibe, like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! Nickname [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] is fun and modern as well, though I prefer the spunky [name_u]Georgie[/name_u].
[name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] are pretty, but with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] I like [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] much more.

[name_f]Georgina[/name_f] is very old-fashioned to me, as in early-mid 20th century. [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] is very 90’s, and the typical nicknames, [name_u]Allie[/name_u] and [name_u]Alex[/name_u] are boring. But [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] are GORGEOUS! And [name_f]Vivi[/name_f] is an adorable nickname…

I really love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] nn [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]. It is great with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and I happen to know an adorable baby [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] who goes by the full name. I understand the appeal of [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f], though, and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] works well with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] too. I prefer [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] because it’s a little less expected.

I love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]! It sounds great with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and the nickname [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] is adorable!

I love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and love it as [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]'s sister. NNs are good too. Not as commonly used as [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] (the latter very on trend right now), but still well known enough not to be a problem with spelling and pronunciation. So, a winner all round. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t doubt yourself!

Sometimes a mother’s intuition tells you to veer in a certain direction for reasons you can’t explain. Like how they say you name your baby after it’s come out to see if the name really fits.
All your names are gorgeous.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helped!

thanks for all the feedback. I’m happy to hear the majority thumbs up for [name_f]Georgina[/name_f]. When I’ve mentioned it to people I sort of get a weird look! lol. And I can’t understand why it hasn’t been ranked in so many years. I don’t want my daughter growing up with a name she hates. And I can’t understand how I can [name_u]Love[/name_u] a name so much but be afraid to use it.

For some reason [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] doesn’t feel as light, girly, or elegant as [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] or [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]. I also feel like [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] and [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] are also more visually pleasing. My first choice would be [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]

Another vote for [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] here-- it works great with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f] is a very cute nn.

I found that when i was pregnant i went through what feels like hundreds of names that i loved but couldnt commit to. I realized I found my daughters name when I just stopped looking one day. There wasnt an overwhelming feeling of finding THE name. I never looked or second guessed and now I think back to all the names she could have been and not one fits like her name. Oddly enough it was nothing that I was looking for in a name and the second dh heard it it was an instant yes. Im just trying to explain that sometimes if youre having a hard time commiting it probably isnt the one for you.

[name_u]Georgie[/name_u] is so sweet and is one of my favorite nns.

I love, love, love [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] and nns [name_u]Georgie[/name_u] and [name_f]Gigi[/name_f]. I can’t use it (my beloved dog’s name is already [name_m]George[/name_m]!), but I would in a heartbeat. [name_f]Georgina[/name_f] is classic, but unexpected. She’s serious, but the nn options lighten it up so much. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it.
