Wilder Johan vs. Johan Wilder?

As the title suggests, I’m considering either [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Johan[/name_m] or [name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] as a combo.

I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], but I wonder if it’s too wordy for a FN (or generally, just an odd word name to use up front). I’ve been fond of [name_m]Johan[/name_m] for many years, and recently I’ve liked it enough to consider it for a first name. If I used it, it would be (sort of) an honor name as my father’s MN is [name_m]John[/name_m], and farther back in our family tree, there were many [name_m]Johannes[/name_m] and Johans. I never thought I’d go for [name_m]John[/name_m] or a variant but I think it’s my style because it has a quirk factor despite being traditional.

That being said, I do love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. So, putting my feelings out of it, what do you think and which would you go for? Saying why is helpful too. Thanks!

[name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] gets my vote. I personally feel [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is a little out there as a first name, but that it makes for a lovely middle name.

I love the sound of [name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]! I don’t mind [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] as a fn, I just think the combo flows better this way.

[name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]

Flow wise I prefer [name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], personally I prefer [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. I adore [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] and it has special meaning to us. I think [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] fits right in with many popular names these days.

Definitely [name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m].

Thanks for the feedback

I’d go for [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Johan[/name_m]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because i dont like the oldfashioned name [name_m]Johan[/name_m]…at least here in [name_u]Holland[/name_u] not a lot of kids would get that name…
So i wpuld only use it as a honor name.
My fathers name is [name_m]Johannes[/name_m]

Thanks! [name_m]Johan[/name_m] is not heard much here in US, but mostly due to it being European, not really an old/young name issue.

I love both combos! Such a cool name either way. Would have to agree [name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] flows better. It also means you can honour your father and his family which I think is really special

I absolutely love both names [name_m]Johan[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. In some countries they pronounce it [name_u]Jo[/name_u]-han and in others it will be [name_f]Yo[/name_f]-han. I think the flow [name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] sounds nice. But if you are only going to be saying the first name, then i like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]. It’s sounds super cool and modern but it still a name and surname from many centuries back so it still has classic ties.

I keep thinking of Romancing the [name_m]Stone[/name_m] when I see it & I can’t get past it.
If you havent seen it, the main character is a lonely- shes so lonely she has a cat naned [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] - romance novelist named [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] (played by [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] [name_m]Turner[/name_m]) who meets her dream man when she goes on an adventure to South [name_u]America[/name_u] to save her sister from some thugs. [name_u]Danny[/name_u] DeVito is in it and there is a pit of crocodiles and I love it in a very retro cheesy way.

So for me personally, I wouldn’t. But it’s an old movie that probably everyone but me has forgotten all about and I’m sure the name is usable either way.

I love [name_m]Wilder[/name_m]! [name_m]Johan[/name_m] is really not my style so it’s hard to say why I prefer it in the middle. I kind of find it hard to use [name_m]IRL[/name_m] in the US. I think [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] is cool and edgy, that gets my vote!

I prefer [name_m]Johan[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] . It is traditional yet quirky.
