I love the name [name]Wiley[/name] for a boy, but recently realized that it could sound an awful like [name]Riley[/name] with a speech impediment. That wouldn’t really bother me, except that my brother’s name is [name]Riley[/name]. Ugh.
Also we are considering
[name]Wiley[/name] [name]Abram[/name]
or
[name]Wiley[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]
I like [name]Wiley[/name] LOADS more than [name]Riley[/name]. [name]Riley[/name] is way too popular for boys and girls for my taste, but I have yet to meet a young [name]Wiley[/name]! (I do know an old [name]Wiley[/name].) I wouldn’t be concerned about the speech impediment issue. I’m a speech therapist, and it never would have occurred to me to make that connection. Good luck!
I think [name]Wiley[/name] is awesome. It’s very Southern and has the unruly cowboy image some parents really like. [name]Wiley[/name] has a great chance at a comeback as an alternative to [name]Riley[/name].
[name]Wiley[/name] [name]Abram[/name] gets my vote.
I never thought of [name]Wiley[/name] and [name]Riley[/name] in the same breath, maybe because the names have a sufficiently different image. I’m also slightly surprised to see a positive response to [name]Wiley[/name], not that I mind it myself.
I’m just wondering if a boy named [name]Wiley[/name] would find it confusing to have an uncle [name]Riley[/name]? Especially if he has trouble with his R’s.
