Wilhelmina for William and Minnie

Wilhelmina is another name brought up by my husband. I’m so happy he’s “into” choosing a birth name now! It seems he’s good at it.

He suggested using the female form of [name_m]William[/name_m] for our daughter, which could be a way for us to shorten it to [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] (the reason I was interested in [name_f]Minerva[/name_f] before). I’m not sure if nicknames are my thing, but he seems to like the idea of using them, at least as a private family thing.

Wilhelmina feels a bit clunky and outdated.

Have you considered [name_f]Minna[/name_f] or [name_f]Wilmina[/name_f] (shortenings they feel a bit more modern)

All I can say is good job dad! It seems like he helped come up with a name that meets all your needs while also being such a sweet and lovely choice.

I know a [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] in her 20s who goes by [name_f]Mina[/name_f] and it’s such a lovely name. [name_f]Minnie[/name_f] is a great nickname too!

This seems like the perfect compromise!

I’m proud of him, first for making the effort and second for actually being good at this naming thing!

Now there are two girl names, [name_f]Wilhelmina[/name_f] and [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f], that seem to work and make us happy, and it is thanks to him, plus our full embrace of [name_u]Chauncey[/name_u] for our son.
