This is by far my favorite name so far, I have such a hard time with girl names! Her middle name would be [name_f]Grace[/name_f] after my mom and myself. [name_m]Just[/name_m] not sure how it would age. I can picture it on a baby, little girl, teenager and old lady but not so much in between for some reason!
I also always try to picture the name on a resume and for some reason it just doesn’t sound professional to me, but I still love it so much.
I have an aunt [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] who I’m not close enough with to name a child after, so that’s what’s holding me back a little from using [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f].
Thoughts please!
I like [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] better! It’s nice to have both options. Have you considered [name_f]May[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisy[/name_f]? I think [name_f]May[/name_f] ages better, it’s quite timeless.
Maisie [name_m]Williams[/name_m]? She’s in her early 20s.
I think it definitely holds up! [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] and [name_f]Macy[/name_f] work, so I feel like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] definitely does!
I like the name so well I used it on my dog. Masie—to get an S sound. (I didn’t want the zz pronunciation and didn’t like the way it looked with a c.)
I think of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], so I definitely think it can age well! [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is so sweet!!
Yes, I think it will age well! I can picture it on any age just fine. I don’t think it needs a full name at all.
My great grandmothers birth name was [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and I think it is darling and can see it aging well. She changed her name when she immigrated in order to take on a more “royal” name in hopes to be adopted by a good family. Which worked out for her.
I don’t think it needs a longer name
Honestly, no, I don’t think [name_f]Maisy[/name_f]/Maisie ages very well. It sounds like a cutesy nickname to me I can’t imagine a [name_m]President[/name_m] [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] (as a filler last name), personally, and I don’t think it seems super professional for a resume. I might be biased because I just am not a huge fan of [name_f]Maisy[/name_f]/Maisie. I do like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] a lot, but I have crossed it off my list for the same concern – that it’s not strong enough and wouldn’t age well.
Sorry!! [name_m]Plenty[/name_m] of others disagree with me though!! [name_m]Just[/name_m] my personal opinion and preference. It’s very sweet on a baby or little girl though!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
I love [name_f]Maisy[/name_f]! I prefer the ‘y’ for some reason, but either way is good. I see what you mean by being concerned about how it will grow up. But I think it’s fine. It’s just because you don’t see it on adults now a days . I bet in the 70s/80s people thought that [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], [name_f]Debbie[/name_f], [name_f]Jenny[/name_f] etc. wouldn’t age well. They all seem normal now though on adults, since society is filled w/them. That being said, I’m kind of loving [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] recently. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] is also very sweet.
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
Names age as people do! For Americans, most of the Maisies they know are young so that makes it more difficult to picture on an adult. The same thing happened in the 80s with [name_f]Brittney[/name_f] or [name_u]Courtney[/name_u], and both of those aged fine! I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]/Maisy is wonderful.
I know a [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] who’s a middle aged professor, so it doesn’t sound childish at all to me! It’s a lovely name and will age just fine, I think.
Agree with suggestion of [name_f]Mae[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. That gives her a more “grown up” option if she wants to use it later. I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is sweet!
Maisie is sweet and totally in line with other nicknamey names like [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] that are popular at the moment. She’ll be growing up with other sweet names so [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] will be fine
I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]/Maisy [name_f]Grace[/name_f] will age really well.
As other posters have said, a lot of today’s baby names are shortened versions of more formal names, or end in an E/ey sound. She will fit right in.
I think [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has a lovely connection to you and your mum and adds some gravitas to the whole name. If she really has a problem with [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] when she’s older there’s the perfectly classical, professional [name_f]Grace[/name_f] all ready and waiting for her to use.
If you love it- go for it!
I don’t particularly see a problem with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]/Maisy… but I live in the UK and it’s probably more common here than in other countries. If [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] doesn’t seem like an option to you, I would suggest [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f] as an alternative.
I don’t see the point of naming your child something purely to use another name as a nickname. If you like the name [name_f]Maisy[/name_f]/ [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] ( which you should, it’s a beautiful name) I think just use it. As someone pointed out before, we are now in the trend of using names traditionally used as nicknames in the past as given names- such as [name_m]Albie[/name_m], [name_f]Missy[/name_f] ect. She would be growing up with other children with similar names. Names are always evolving, anyone who thinks a [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] wouldn’t be taken seriously in 20: years should check out Dr [name_f]Pixie[/name_f], a tv famous doctor with quite a twee name. But I don’t think it’s a good idea to name your child [name_f]May[/name_f] just so you can have [name_f]Maisy[/name_f] as a nickname- no one might ever use the nickname!
Joe Biden considered a woman named [name_f]Tammy[/name_f] for his v.p. I have to admit the thought of a [name_m]President[/name_m] [name_f]Tammy[/name_f] gave me pause.
Here in the UK nickname names are really popular and I know a few Maisys/Maisies of various ages, so I think it’d be fine. It’s a lovely name and you should definitely use it if you feel like it’s the one!
I will be another outlier and say that I don’t think it ages well. I love [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], though! I would choose a different long form to put on the birth certificate and give her more options as she gets older. [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f], etc
