Will the spelling of 'Isaac' be a problem for people?

[name]Hi[/name], from my earlier poll, [name]Isaac[/name] was the favorite name. Very nice name. My husband and I both really like it. Only concern I have is I like names that are very easy to say and spell. Our other children are [name]James[/name], [name]Noah[/name], and [name]Lucy[/name]. Hard to get any of those spellings wrong  [name]Will[/name] people get confused on which letter to double in [name]Isaac[/name], the s or a? Or not? Like how some of you said that a name that pairs with [name]Noah[/name] would be nice since [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]James[/name] seem to pair off. Other biblical names we should really consider that seem like a natural fit with [name]Noah[/name]?

Also, like that people don’t automatically assume a nickname for [name]Isaac[/name], unlike biblical names like [name]Samuel[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], etc… not a huge fan of nicknames.

Thanks for any help!

Well I would normally say no, but my cousin has an [name]Isaac[/name] and my Mum always spells his name ‘[name]Issac[/name]’ - it drives me mad! Having said this, she is generally a poor speller, so I don’t think the average person would misspell it.

[name]Hope[/name] this helped!

I don’t think most people will either. It’s a biblical name that I think most people are familiar with and I think it’ll be ok.

It sounds great with your other children btw!

I agree with the other posters - it’s a classic, and this is (I believe) the most common spelling. Most will have no trouble with it.

If I heard [name]Isaac[/name] called across a playground, at a doctor’s office, et c. I would immediately assume it was spelled I S A A C. I think most people would. It would probably just take a gentle “[name]Isaac[/name], spelled with 2 a’s” to remind them if they misspelled it… not like if you were spelling it Yzakk or something. I could just see some poor child trying to tell people how to spell that (“No, it’s [name]Isaac[/name], spelled with a Y, a Z, one A, and two Ks”).

Anyway, I think [name]Isaac[/name] is very handsome and goes great with [name]Lucy[/name], [name]James[/name], and [name]Noah[/name] (especially [name]Noah[/name]!).

You may encounter the occasional misspelling, but I think most people are familiar enough with the name that it wouldn’t be a problem. Your children have lovely, classic names. I think [name]Isaac[/name] fits right in!

saracita00, I love your suggestions!!

First of all, [name]Isaac[/name] is a great name!

I used to belong to a message board about a TV show with a character named [name]Isaac[/name] and a lot more people than you would think spelled it “[name]Issac[/name]”. It annoys me to no end! That being said, it’s common enough so people would know how to spell it. My name is [name]Bryan[/name] (which gets misspelled all the time) and it’s nothing a quick “[name]Isaac[/name] with two A’s” can’t fix.

I have a half brother named [name]Isaac[/name] and as far as I know he’s never had a problem with his name, I think people actually expect the “aa” in this name because it’s the traditional spelling.

I love the name [name]Isaac[/name]! It’s classic and biblical, which I also love. I think it goes great with your other children’s names. They all sound wonderful together. As for the spelling, I don’t think it should be a big problem. [name]Isaac[/name], is the traditional spelling, and I think most people will expect it to be spelled that way. Honestly, I thought the only spelling of this name was [name]Isaac[/name]. Some people though are just really bad spellers in general and may get it wrong, but that could happen with any name. [name]Even[/name] the simplest. My name is [name]Alexandria[/name], and people constantly leave out the I at the end. It drives me nuts, but once I correct them, they usually remember for next time. Also, I go by [name]Ally[/name] and people always spell it “Alley.” It completely baffles me, since I thought [name]Ally[/name] was a really common name, and that most people spelled it the way I do, but you always get one or two people who just dont get it.

For any confusion, [name]Rhia[/name] is the last few letters of my first name, [name]Alexandria[/name], with an added H. Not my actual nickname, just a nickname I wish was mine.
Anyway, back to the issue at hand, I dont think there will be very many spelling issues involved with the name [name]Isaac[/name].

[name]Love[/name] the name [name]Isaac[/name]. It is number two on my boy list. Most LITERATE people or those familiar with the bible will have no problem with the spelling.

My brother’s name is [name]Isaac[/name] and his experience supports most of the opinions already given – most people will spell his name correctly but there are still a few who are determined to go for “[name]Issac[/name]” or even “Issaac”. Most of these people, though, seem to be bad spellers in general so they would probably get any name wrong!
