Winoa/Winnoa

So I’ve been in love with the name Winoa (prn win-oh-uh) with the nickname [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] recently. The problem is, I actually came up with it after realizing after years of mispronunciation that [name_f]Winona[/name_f] actually had an ‘n’. I’ve tried looking it up several times and it doesn’t seem to exist anywhere. I just can’t get behind [name_f]Winona[/name_f] because the ‘n’ feels unnecessary. I like [name_f]Winola[/name_f] well enough but for some reason it reminds me of oil.

Anyway, I wanted to ask three things.

  • What do you think of Winoa? [name_m]Can[/name_m] it pass as a name?
  • What are some middles you can think of? I am kind of stuck.
  • [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer the spelling Winoa or Winnoa?

Thank you in advance.

I like it & I think it could work, especially with the popularity of Noa.

Winoa Lark
Winoa Mabel
Winoa Fern
Winoa Claire
Winoa Daphne
Winoa Frances
Winoa Violet
Winoa Sunday
Winoa Lyric

I think I prefer Winnoa; it feels more balanced and less likely to be confused with Winona

Agreed on both counts! Either spelling is definitely name-y. You may get some confusion/spellcheck issues with Winona but Winoa/Winnoa can definitely stand alone imho. It’s pretty, it reminds me of the verb to winnow as in the wind winnowing through the trees

Winoa/Winnoa reminds me of farms & the word ‘winnow,’, in a good way. I prefer the Winnoa spelling since it seems more complete than Winoa.
