We love the name [name_m]Winston[/name_m] for our baby due in [name_u]Jan[/name_u]. I like the old fashionedness of [name_m]Winston[/name_m] and the nickname [name_u]Win[/name_u] but I worry people may have negative connotations with the name. What does [name_m]Winston[/name_m] make you think of when you hear it? Am I crazy for considering it? My daughter’s name’s are [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Pearl[/name_f]. We are also stuck on a middle name for [name_m]Winston[/name_m]. Oh and I love the names [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], and [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m]. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] is so handsome and distinguished; a great name overall. My immediate association is [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], but he’s the only [name_m]Winston[/name_m] that I’ve ever heard of (I don’t live in an English speaking country).
I like [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! I am in the US, I don’t know of any negative connotations. I also think [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], maybe [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Winston[/name_m], the jewler. I’ve recently heard it on a character on the TV show [name_m]New[/name_m] Girl and the show is adorable so it is a positive association for me. I may be missing the negative connotation you’re referencing, but I don’t think you’re crazy at all! I also REALLY like [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] from your list! For what it’s worth I think [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Malcolm[/name_m] is handsome
I think of [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], but not exclusively - [name_u]Win[/name_u] is such a handsome nickname (or even [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]! sigh). For middles, I would avoid something too surnamey and maybe go classic or modern:
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Alastair[/name_m]

[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Piers[/name_m]

Hopefully something appeals - I love the sound of [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m]!
I know a [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! He’s about 20, and it works great on him.
I think [name_m]Winston[/name_m] is incredible with your girls!
[name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! I actually just wrote a blog post on the name [name_m]Winston[/name_m] if you want to read it: http://www.littleredwalkinghood.wordpress.com
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Winston[/name_m]! I definitely think of [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], but although flawed as all great men and women are, he was a strong impressive character.
I’m tempted to add this to my boys’ name list too!
I prefer [name_u]Winslow[/name_u] or Ariston, but [name_m]Winston[/name_m]'s close!
Thank you! I’m so glad to get the positive feedback.
You have impeccable taste, I love the name Winston so much that it is the name we have chosen if our little bean due in September if indeed a boy!
I live in Australia & unfortunately it is a brand of cigarettes but I have no association with smoking so I don’t relate to it in a negative way, hopefully others don’t either.First things that come to mind is the gorgeous diamonds of Harry Winston jewellery and of course Winston Churchill.
Original full name we had chosen was Winston Quinn but have changed to Winston Oakes. I’m just smitten with the name, I find it unique yet not bizarre, not common, has old fashioned charm and can just picture it being gorgeous on a little boy and distinguished on an adult.
Winston Oakes is to join our little girl Willow Harper.
Good luck x
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Winston[/name_m]. Such a handsome choice. Makes me think of [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m], but I am British so that is obvious. Great name.
I like [name_m]Winston[/name_m]. I used to work with one…he’s probably pushing 30 now. It worked for him.
I think of [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Churchill[/name_m] and [name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Smith[/name_m] (of Nineteen Eighty-Four).
I think it’s a fantastic name!
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] [name_m]Felix[/name_m] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Winston[/name_m] are both fabulous.
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] makes me think of cigarettes more than of [name_m]Churchill[/name_m]. However, it’s not bad, and [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] would be sweet on a boy. Some similar names are [name_m]Wilfred[/name_m], [name_m]Willard[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilbur[/name_m].
