Help. My wife and I both like the name winter for our 3rd boy to be born mid Ded. I just want to know what people think. And is it to much of a girls name? I know 2 men named [name_u]Robin[/name_u] and they both hate it and go by rob. Always over worry. Lol
I don’t think so at all. In fact, I think I prefer it on a boy, but I’m not a great word name person so I would personally rather it in the middle - I do like how it reflects the birth date of your son though. (On a side note, I know only male [name_m]Robins[/name_m], and too many to count!)
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] is very nice, and while I first saw it only for girls, it has grown in me for boys - and I just might prefer it as a boy name, too. I think it’s lovely
It also has some nickname options, if you worry…
I think [name_u]Winter[/name_u] is completely gender neutral, though I’d put it in the middle spot, personally. [name_u]Win[/name_u] is also a cool nickname.
I love [name_u]Winter[/name_u]! Personally I like it better as a middle name, but I do think it’s definitely unisex.
I also know a few boy [name_m]Robins[/name_m] - and they usually just go by their full name.
To me, this is totally a girl’s name. I would automatically think girl any time I saw it. And my personal opinion is that “out there” names like this are much, much harder for boys to pull off than girls – I think you can get away with a lot of creativity in naming a girl that you can’t in naming a boy, for better or worse.
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] seems unisex, and I have known a few girl [name_u]Robin[/name_u]'s and never met a boy [name_u]Robin[/name_u]. For a [name_u]December[/name_u] baby I’d chose [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] for a boy and [name_f]Holly[/name_f] for a girl
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] reads all-girl to me although I only know one [name_u]Winter[/name_u], a girl. I think it would work in the middle spot. Maybe you would like a nature themed name that also may remind you of winter.
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u] (I love this one!)
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] (I think of the beautiful ski town in the [name_m]Rocky[/name_m] Mountains, and apparently it was also the name of one of the wise men.)
I also like pp’s suggestion of [name_u]Wynn[/name_u] and [name_u]Aspen[/name_u].
