Winter vs Meadow

So I really like nature/earthy names ([name]River[/name], [name]Laurel[/name], [name]Violet[/name]) and I was considering [name]Winter[/name] or [name]Meadow[/name] is this baby is a girl. I am just wondering how they would age with her? I am due in [name]Jan[/name] and middle name will most likely be [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I would love your thoughts on both names. Thanks!

[name]Winter[/name] and [name]Meadow[/name] are quite different to me, as both conjure up opposite imagery. I hear [name]Winter[/name] and think of a [name]Robert[/name] [name]Frost[/name] poem; snowy forests, warm fires, [name]Christmas[/name] trees, and bundled up kids with rosy cheeks and puffy jackets is what I imagine. [name]Meadow[/name] makes me think of a warm spring day with blooming flowers and baby animals and, well, a meadow. [name]Both[/name] images are very peaceful.

Personally, I would choose [name]Winter[/name]. I prefer the sound of [name]Winter[/name] over the sound of [name]Meadow[/name].

I love [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Laurel[/name]! Between [name]Winter[/name] and [name]Meadow[/name], though, [name]Winter[/name] gets my vote. I love the images of snow I get, and [name]Christmas[/name], and I love the nn [name]Winnie[/name]. [name]Winter[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is so pretty. [name]Meadow[/name] is sweet and I do like it, but it just seems too GPish/hippy-dippy for me, personally.

Good luck!

I adore both of these names! Boyfriend doesn’t like either…if I had to choose one I would probably chose [name]Winter[/name].

[name]Winter[/name] over [name]Meadow[/name] anyday imo. [name]Both[/name] are a tad tad too wordy for my liking.

And [name]Winter[/name] for a [name]January[/name] baby is most fitting but a bit too…ehh matchy?

[name]Holly[/name] is a nice idea.
[name]Holly[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely imo.

I would prefer [name]Winter[/name] but I think it’s a bit more trendy at the moment. I have found that [name]Meadow[/name] has teasing potential - it can be a euphemism for a female part. At least it was when I was in school (I’m 27). shrug

I love both [name]Winter[/name] and [name]Meadow[/name], I can’t choose, though I might go for [name]Meadow[/name] right now simply because [name]Winter[/name] HAS been on people’s radar for the past few years, but for some odd reason, [name]Winter[/name] has yet to break the top 1000 and [name]Meadow[/name] was 892, but I see [name]Winter[/name] making the list soon.

Prefer [name]Winter[/name] to [name]Meadow[/name]. But I find [name]Winter[/name] a very crystalline, crisp image… and my husband rhapsodized about using it as it’s his favourite season and he was very sweet about it which made me like it more than I had.

[name]Winter[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is quite pretty.

If I was worried about [name]Winter[/name] taking off in popularity there are a lot of other nature names I like more than [name]Meadow[/name], no offense.

I actually like both. I think [name]Winter[/name] has better imagery and flows better with [name]Elizabeth[/name].

I prefer [name]Meadow[/name]. [name]Winter[/name] just seems more boyish to me, although a lot of people are using it for a girl…

Also if you use a season name, it’s kind of weird, in my opinion, if you name a baby born in summer, [name]Winter[/name]… it’s odd, but then it’s matchy if you name it [name]Winter[/name] in [name]January[/name]… personally I don’t like season names for this reason, it’s just odd either way.

I have a cousin named [name]Sumer[/name] and she was born in summer… I got used to it, but it does seem like a really cutsey thing to do.

[name]Winter[/name] because of the imagery and nickname option [name]Winnie[/name]. I can’t think of a nn for [name]Meadow[/name], and [name]Winter[/name] goes better with [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Also, I think it’s strange to name a winter baby [name]Meadow[/name] because it evokes spring in my opinion.

My 11 year old daughter is called [name]Meadow[/name], its still gorgeous to me! she gets a lot of compliments on it so I say go for [name]Meadow[/name]!

I think [name]Meadow[/name] sounds fresher than [name]Winter[/name] and so I like [name]Meadow[/name] much better. It’s interesting, not trendy, but not incredibly weird. It sounds much happier and sunnier than winter. Makes me think happy thoughts!

OOOOh i just saw the post about [name]Winnie[/name] - I have to say that is an adorable nickname…So I guess I like [name]Winter[/name] better than [name]Meadow[/name] but only if you were going to call her [name]Winnie[/name]!

I think [name]Winter[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is gorgeous. (:

[name]Meadow[/name] feels more like a name than [name]Winter[/name], I think it will age better. Also [name]Winter[/name] is trendy

I prefer [name]Winter[/name]. I like the sound and imagery.

Also, [name]Linden[/name] is one of my favorite nature names. It makes me think of a tall, graceful girl much like a [name]Linden[/name] tree.

I can’t say I’m overly zany about them but I don’t hate either one.

[name]Winter[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] does flow better in my opinion than [name]Meadow[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] but both are workable.

[name]Meadow[/name] is a curious choice but nothing is overtly wrong with it. I could see the nickname [name]Maddie[/name] as a possibility.

[name]Winter[/name] fits the season you are due and has the nice option of [name]Winnie[/name] as a nickname.

[name]Winter[/name] would age much better than [name]Meadow[/name] would. I think it’s just more sophisticated than [name]Meadow[/name] is. Plus, I like the sound of [name]Winter[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name].

[name]Winter[/name] is gorgeous. I love the feeling I get when I hear [name]Winter[/name] used as a name.
