I know word names like [name]Rose[/name_f] and [name]Melody[/name_f] are fairly popular, but I’ve had a crush on a rather unique one for a while. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name]Crescent[/name_f] (nn Cress) could be used as a first name? [name_u]Honest[/name_u] opinions, please!
Yes, why not.
I think so, definitely fits into the star/spacey theme names.
Yes, I do! It’s very elegant
No. I think of crescent roll. What about [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]?
Omg
I’ll admit I’ve never heard it used before, but all it would take is one person who wears it well! After all, every common word name is just a random word we’ve decided to accept as a name. And names are evolving all the time.
I think [name_f]Crescent[/name_f] is a gorgeous word with a lovely sound and look, and casts a beautiful image of a crescent moon. If [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_f]Millicent[/name_f] are names, then [name_f]Crescent[/name_f] can work!
I think it would suit a more namey middle.
Crescent has a nice sound (if you don’t mind the association with crescent rolls as another person pointed out). I worry that Cress will come across as [name_u]Kris[/name_u] or [name_u]Chris[/name_u] which are much more common. But maybe that’s not a bad thing?
Crescent nn Cress is sweet
I also think of [name_f]Crescent[/name_f] rolls, but it’s not terrible. It reminds me of [name_f]Cressida[/name_f]
Do I think it could be used? Yes. Pretty much anything can be used as a name. Would I use it? No. It just makes me think of crescent roll and croissant, unfortunately. I do love the nickname Cress, though I much prefer [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] nn Cress.
I like [name_f]Crescent[/name_f], it’s sweet and very usable to me. However, Cress puts me a bit off it, because it sounds like caress, crest, or [name_u]Chris[/name_u]. I don’t think I’d go with a nickname for [name_f]Crescent[/name_f] if it was me.
Definitely out there, so use a very traditional MN.
I prefer [name_f]Crescenta[/name_f] or [name_f]Crescentia[/name_f], but [name_f]Crescent[/name_f] is kind of fun!
