[name_f]Freya[/name_f] & [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] & [name_f]Juno[/name_f]
[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] are two names I’m thinking about for my girls’ list. But in a sibset, would I be setting myself up with a trend (either Scandinavian names for the 1st duo, or mythology names for the 2nd)? Or would it not be all that strange for a 3rd child to not have a name in the same trend?
EX:
[name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] & [name_f]Camille[/name_f] (just an example)
I hope the question is clear enough.
i think thats totally fine, personally i would notice the broken mythology trend more than the Scandinavian one, but really i wouldn’t worry about it. Besides if you did want to continue either of these trends i think it would be super cute. With Norse and [name_m]Roman[/name_m] mythology it would be cool to have some Greek or Egyptian, you could use
Bastet
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]
Amunet
Hathor
Iabet
Iat
Imentet
[name_f]Meret[/name_f]
Mut
[name_f]Neith[/name_f]

I did immediately notice the Scandinavian theme with [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]. I love them together though! I’ve actually thought of [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] as a hypothetical sibset myself before. I don’t think it would seem weird to have [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] and [name_f]Camille[/name_f] as sisters though- my first thought would probably be, what a lovely sibset!
I didn’t think of the mythological connection with [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f], but [name_f]Freya[/name_f] doesn’t seem overtly mythological to me as in, it’s the first thing I think of when I hear the name, since it’s fairly common- not like [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] where it would be immediately obvious to me.
That being said, even if other posters mostly notice the connections:
-
We Berries are a lot more attuned to name origin, style, etc. than the vast majority of people out there. I can imagine that a lot of people wouldn’t even know about them being Scandinavian/mythological names, and even if they knew it wouldn’t really come to mind.
-
I can’t speak for everyone else, but even as a namenerd I personally don’t really think of whether siblings’ names have the same origins. I would notice if they were stylistically different (e.g. [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Destiny[/name_f] or something) but all of those sound elegant and feminine but straightforward and not all that frilly to me, so go together in that way.

I know you’re not expecting, so you may change your mind on these names by the time you are anyways, but… The chances of you having three girls may be pretty small anyways. I’m not sure how many kids you want (if any!) but you may well only have 1 or 2, and even if you have 3 they may not all be girls. Anecdotally at least, most families I know with 3 of the same gender have 4+ kids.
seconding what bonfireazalea said, i didn’t think about the fact that as a namenerd (and mythology geek) i would probably be a lot more likely to notice these trends than anyone else, i also love the sibset [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] or [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], [name_f]Greta[/name_f]
I don’t really believe in sibsets, I have too many children to try and keep their names in perfect harmony. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the [name_f]Freya[/name_f] and [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] combo (not as much a fan of [name_f]Juno[/name_f]) but I don’t think you would have to choose another Scandinavian name if you didn’t want to.
I think the risk is greater with [name_f]Freya[/name_f] & [name_f]Juno[/name_f] than with [name_f]Freya[/name_f] & [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f]. Being popular in similar parts of the world isn’t really a theme in the same way that mythology is.
I see what you mean but I actually kind of like it when one or two names in a sibset are a bit different than the other(s). Someone on here talked about [name_f]Winifred[/name_f] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] together and while completely different styles, I think they’re both quirky enough to work together. [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f], and [name_f]Camille[/name_f] would work really well together! They’re feminine and exotic yet familiar.
Thanks everyone! It’s good just to hear it wouldn’t be too odd to have a different name in the mix.
