If I were to name a child a name that happens to mean ‘metalworker’ would I be evil to give them the middle name [name_m]Forge[/name_m]?

[name_m]The[/name_m] reason I ask is my number one boys name right now does happen to mean ‘metalworker’ and one of my favourite musical artists’ last name is [name_m]Forge[/name_m], as in, a forge, where you do metalworking.
[name_f][/name_f]
Would people even know or care about the meaning?
[name_f][/name_f]
How often does the middle name matter?
[name_f][/name_f]
Is [name_m]Forge[/name_m] even an acceptable middle name?
I think it’s totally fine! Most people don’t actually think about the literal meanings of names on a daily basis, and middle names especially aren’t used all that often in everyday life.
[name_m]Forge[/name_m] is unexpected and interesting [name_f][/name_f]- but enough like [name_m]Ford[/name_m] and [name_m]George[/name_m] that it could work.
[name_f][/name_f]
Most people [name_f][/name_f] won’t know the meaning of the first name if it’s not super popular or obvious what it means [name_f][/name_f]- I guess it just comes down to whether it bothers you, since you would know?
I don’t think anyone would notice at all (unless the name is [name_m]Smith[/name_m] - but I’m assuming it’s [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m]). Most people don’t know what names mean, and lots of people have names with random/not great meanings.
I think it’s fine as it has meaning - I sort of like it actually. This reminds me of Gates McFadden. Her middle name was Gates and she ended up going by it.
I do think that the first having the meaning metalworker makes it a little awkward. But if it’s not obvious, it would probably only matter to your child. If you think you child might be affected, I’d go with something else.
I think it’s fine. [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Tolliver[/name_m] [name_m]Forge[/name_m] is handsome (maybe a bit R heavy?), and I never would’ve connected it. [name_f][/name_f] I don’t think it’s evil by any stretch of the imagination! [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Forge[/name_m] in general is very cool, I like it more than [name_m]Ford[/name_m] for sure.
Echoing other comments to say I think it’s fine. Assuming the other comment is right about the first name, it’s not like his name would literally be Metalworker [name_m]Forge[/name_m] (which I would think is a bit strange). Most people don’t know what names mean so I think it’s completely fine and definitely not evil!
I love word names that sound name-ish. Its proximity to names like [name_m]George[/name_m] and even something like [name_m]Foster[/name_m] make it feel very usable, although my perspective may be a bit skewed. I might have to steal this one!
