As a double name: [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] or [name]Ivy[/name]-[name]Grace[/name]
Also, [name]Ivy[/name] in general… where does it fall… Vintage, Classic, Trendy??
Thoughts??
Thanks!
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is a very pretty combo! I see [name]Ivy[/name] as vintage/trendy. It has a lovely vintage vibe, but it may be trendy, because of Beyoncé’s baby.
I feel like [name]Grace[/name] has become this placeholder name that will be immediately traceable to this point in time. For example, if you meet an [name]Amy[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] or [name]Amy[/name]-[name]Lynn[/name], you immediately think “80s” because a) [name]Amy[/name] was big then and b) [name]Lynn[/name] was everyone’s middle name or [name]Marie[/name].
So with the [name]Beyonce[/name] factor, [name]Ivy[/name] has become very “of the moment” and every little girl’s middle name or second name is [name]Grace[/name] right now, it will be inexorably linked to 2012/ 2013.
I have always loved [name]Ivy[/name] – it is my favorite girl’s name and I don’t think that [name]Beyonce[/name]'s baby’s middle name will inextricably link it to 2012. [name]Grace[/name] is kind of a placeholder, but if it has meaning for you, then who cares. I think [name]Ivy[/name]-[name]Grace[/name] is pretty adorable, actually!
Honestly I completely forgot about about Beyoncé’s baby’s name…
Not sure that is that huge of a deal, though
[name]Love[/name] it
Hm… for me, [name]Ivy[/name] strikes me as very 90’s! But I’m not exactly sure why… except for that terrible movie Poison [name]Ivy[/name] (think it was [name]Drew[/name] Barrymore??). And I agree with all the pp’s that [name]Grace[/name], as beautiful and simple and classic as it is, has become just an overly-used placeholder these days. It goes with just about everything so people use it all the time. But if it has personal significance/meaning to you, go for it. The two together flow nicely though I would do it without the hyphen! Some people will think of [name]Blue[/name] [name]Ivy[/name] and some won’t, depends on who you’re talking to I think…
I think of [name]Ivy[/name] as vintage, it may be in the spotlight atm due to [name]Beyonce[/name]'s baby but I don’t think that will corrupt it, though I’m sure there will be a rise in popularity. I wold prefer to see something more exciting in the mn spot, as pp’s have mentioned [name]Grace[/name] is the new [name]Lynn[/name] or [name]Marie[/name], also known as a “filler middle” and that could date it to this time. Other than that it’s a very sweet name.
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] as a double name is beautiful. I love [name]Ivy[/name], to me it is vintage and charming. I honestly don’t think of [name]Beyonce[/name]'s daughter at all, after all it’s her middle name, not her first. Since you aren’t naming her [name]Blue[/name] [name]Ivy[/name], I doubt many people would see the connection (I mean maybe a few, but not everybody).
I love [name]Ivy[/name] but feel [name]Grace[/name] is too common next to it.
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is a beautiful combination. [name]Grace[/name] isn’t as common as [name]Lynn[/name] was–at least, as best I can tell–so it won’t be quite as easy to pin down as an [name]Amy[/name]-[name]Lynn[/name].
Normally, to be perfectly honest, I don’t like [name]Grace[/name] in the middle slot. But the sounds of [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] together, as well as the shape of the name written down, are really striking. I think it’s a fantastic combination.
I really love [name]Ivy[/name]! It is sweet and feminine. I love [name]Grace[/name], but [name]Grace[/name] in the middle is a bit predictable. It never crossed my mind to associate it with Beyoncé. If you are going for a double name, how about:
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Mae[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Lane[/name]
Oh! [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] is so pretty! I really like that! [name]Grace[/name] has significant religious meaning to me, so I do love the name. [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] makes me think of, [name]John[/name] 15:5 which I think is so beautiful…
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] are beautiful combos!
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is sweet. If she goes by a double barrel name, would you give her another middle name?!
Please don’t go with [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Kate[/name], it’s just as much filler as people think [name]Grace[/name] is. [name]Kate[/name] may be a classic name, but [name]Katherine[/name] Middleton has made it very trendy in recent years.
I was thinking [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Grace[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]…
I really like [name]Ivy[/name] and I know your husband wants his little [name]Gracie[/name], but I would prefer it as a full name instead of a double first. [name]Ivy[/name] with mn [name]Grace[/name] is pretty.
That is just me though, and I generally don’t tend to like double barrelled names… They sound perfectly fine together though. Good luck! =]
I really like [name]Ivy[/name] and I know your husband wants his little [name]Gracie[/name], but I must say I prefer it as simply a full name. [name]Ivy[/name] with mn [name]Grace[/name] is very pretty. That is probably just me, because I generally don’t care for double first names… They sound perfectly fine together though. Good luck! =]
[name]Love[/name] [name]Ivy[/name]! I don’t think I would stick [name]Grace[/name] with it, though–both are “things”, and since [name]Emma[/name] has gone by [name]Emma[/name] [name]Grace[/name] in the past, I wouldn’t use another double barrel with [name]Grace[/name] in it. I think you can get away with [name]Grace[/name] [name]Caroline[/name], since [name]Grace[/name] would be the FN, but for some reason it doesn’t seem as okay to reuse [name]Grace[/name] as a MN again. I think it sort of comes across that you really like it, but you can’t seem to love it enough to use it up front. Maybe that’s not the case, but I think that’s how it would come across to me, if I didn’t know you, and all your other girls didn’t have [name]Grace[/name] anywhere in their names. If you want a double-barrel, I think something like [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Kate[/name] ([name]Ivy[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], maybe? nn [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Kate[/name]?), [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Claire[/name], or [name]Ivy[/name] [name]Jane[/name] would be great, though.
