Would Mattea and Riley work for the twins?

My son and d-i-l are expecting twin girls. They are seriously considering using [name]Riley[/name] and [name]Kailey[/name]. I like both names individually although I am not that into the unisex names. However, I think these two together are just too much of the “ley” sound. I am trying to help them find an alternative to one name that they will absolutely love. They really seem to be stuck on [name]Riley[/name] so I am trying to find an alternative to [name]Kailey[/name]. If one of the twins had been a boy, a name they were considering was [name]Matthias[/name] [name]Liam[/name] in honor of my other son, [name]Matthew[/name]. If you heard [name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Riley[/name] used for twins, would you assume girl and boy or do you think these would work for two girls?

Also, I do like the suggestions of [name]Caelin[/name], [name]Kaylin[/name], [name]Kelsy[/name], and [name]Keeley[/name] in place of [name]Kailey[/name] to be used with [name]Riley[/name]. I am hoping they will like one of these.

Anyone else with ideas that might help?

[name]Hadley[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Emery[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Finley[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Harper[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]March[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Kelsey[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Shea[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Trinity[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]

[name]Mattea[/name] reminds me of [name]Matthias[/name] and is too feminine to go with [name]Riley[/name].

For one twin…

[name]Caelan[/name] - “slender person”
[name]Carlin[/name] - “little champion”
[name]Darra[/name] - “fruitful”
[name]Devan[/name] - “poet”
[name]Keelin[/name] - “fair and slender”
[name]Logan[/name] - “from the hollow”
[name]Quinn[/name] - “descendant of [name]Conn[/name]”
[name]Reagan[/name] - “little king”
[name]Shannon[/name] - “old”
[name]Sloane[/name] - “warrior”
[name]Teagan[/name] - “little poet”

Instead of [name]Riley[/name], try…

[name]Casey[/name] - “vigilant in war”
[name]Cassidy[/name] - “curly haired”
[name]Darcy[/name] - “dark one”
[name]Kinley[/name] - “fair haired viking”
[name]Rory[/name] - “red king”
[name]Tierney[/name] - “lord”

[name]Casey[/name] and [name]Sloane[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name] and [name]Reagan[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] and [name]Darra[/name]
[name]Cassidy[/name] and [name]Shannon[/name]
[name]Kinley[/name] and [name]Carlin[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name] and [name]Teagan[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name] and [name]Caelan[/name]
[name]Rory[/name] and [name]Devan[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name] and [name]Keelin[/name]
[name]Casey[/name] and [name]Logan[/name]
[name]Darcy[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name]

OR, MIX TWO OF THESE FOR THE TWINS, WITHOUT [name]RILEY[/name]. For more feminine names, try…

Aven - “fair radiance”
[name]Bryna[/name] - “strong one”
Eilley - “beautiful bird”
[name]Keely[/name] - “beautiful”
[name]Keira[/name] - “black haired”
[name]Maeve[/name] - “intoxicating”
[name]Nola[/name] - “fair shoulder”
[name]Sorcha[/name] - “bright, radiant”

[name]Keely[/name] and [name]Sorcha[/name]
Aven and [name]Keira[/name]
Eilley and [name]Bryna[/name]
[name]Nola[/name] and [name]Maeve[/name]

[name]Do[/name] they like any of THESE for the twins?

[name]Matthew[/name] means “Gift of God,” as do the Spanish names [name]Matia[/name] and [name]Dorotea[/name]…

I would think girl/boy if I heard [name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]. I think with a girl [name]Riley[/name], another more unisex-type name is needed so that [name]Riley[/name] isn’t assumed to be a boy. I agree that [name]Kailey[/name] and [name]Riley[/name] is a little too matchy. Some of these are repeats, but it’s because I like them:
[name]Harper[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Kendall[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Kennedy[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Teagan[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]***I love this one!
[name]Kelsey[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]
[name]Connolly[/name] and [name]Riley[/name]

I really like [name]Riley[/name] and [name]Kelsey[/name].

[name]Just[/name] in case they like [name]Mattea[/name] (pronounced Ma-[name]TAY[/name]-uh), what names could you picture for the other girl twin?

I don’t think I will have any luck swaying them from [name]Riley[/name] but I guess I can try. Anyone else with ideas to go with [name]Riley[/name] , please post also. Thanks!

Most of the names I suggested above will go with [name]Riley[/name], but I wouldn’t suggest another name ending in Y. Some of the above category, with the unisex names, would be great.

As for [name]Mattea[/name] (“gift of God,” [name]Mattie[/name], [name]Tea[/name]), I would pair it with another Latin name:

[name]Allegra[/name] - “joy” [[name]Allie[/name]]
[name]Aurora[/name] - “goddess of the dawn” [[name]Rory[/name]]
[name]Beatriz[/name] - “bringer of joy” [[name]Bea[/name]]
[name]Celina[/name] - “heaven” [[name]Lina[/name]]
[name]Diara[/name] - “gift” [[name]Di[/name]]
Perenna - “eternal” [[name]Perry[/name]]
[name]Regina[/name] - “queen” [[name]Gina[/name]]
[name]Verena[/name] - “sacred wisdom” [[name]Vera[/name]]
[name]Vivian[/name] - “alive” [[name]Vivi[/name], [name]Vi[/name]]

Good luck!

What about [name]Kate[/name]? Similar sound to [name]Kailey[/name]. It is more of a classic than [name]Riley[/name], but it has some spunk!

The styles are different but perhaps it would work…I prefer the classics though so I might be biased.

With [name]Riley[/name] I think any of the above unisex names would work great.
From what has been suggested I really like [name]Riley[/name] and [name]Quinn[/name] and [name]Riley[/name] and [name]Teagan[/name].

Some more unisex names that might work with [name]Riley[/name] (sorry for repeats)

[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Peyton[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Marlo[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Tatum[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Dorian[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Cameron[/name] - together might be too trendy, idk.
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Dylan[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Devin[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Evan[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Avis[/name]
[name]Riley[/name] and [name]Avery[/name].

I’ve had a crush on [name]Mattea[/name] all week! I do think that it is too feminine for [name]Riley[/name], though. Honestly I prefer [name]Mattea[/name] over [name]Riley[/name].

With [name]Mattea[/name] I see -

[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Lydia[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Lorena[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Audra[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Bianca[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Cordelia[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Annika[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Anja[/name]/[name]Anya[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Juliana[/name]/[name]Giuliana[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Isobel[/name]
[name]Mattea[/name] and [name]Veronica[/name]

I just remembered a name that your son and d-i-l might like. [name]Kenley[/name]. It’s my friend’s niece’s name, and they’re very Irish. I think it would be cute with [name]Riley[/name], a little matchy with the -ley endings, but better than [name]Kailey[/name].
