Hi everyone!
Would you guys nickname “Eliza” as a standalone name?
If so, what would you nickname it to?
- I would not nickname Eliza (unless she specifically asked me to)
- Eliza “Liza”
- Eliza “Ellie”
- Eliza “Liz” (Despite the different sound)
- Eliza “Elle / El”
- Eliza “Lizzy” (Despite the different sound)
Thank you!
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] doesn’t need a nickname. I definitely see myself calling a baby [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] “Ellie-baby,” “Ellie-girl” occasionally, though.

Thank you! I agree, [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is best by herself, and I do believe it is less prone to nicknames than other 3 syllable names
Ellie-girl is so cute for a baby [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]!
I do think it doesn’t need a nickname on a formal basis, however
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] by itself is so lovely

if I knew someone named [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], I wouldn’t nickname her unless she introduced herself with a nickname.
my favorite nickname for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] would be [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]!

Oh yes! I love [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]!
I didn’t include it because I didn’t think most non namenerds would go there, but it is actually my favourite nn for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Liza[/name_f] would come the most naturally to me, but [name_f]Elle[/name_f] is cute as a nn!
I also really like the previous suggestion of [name_f]Elsie[/name_f], which is adorable!
[name_f]Elsie[/name_f] or [name_f]Lil[/name_f] for me.
I don’t think I would deliberately nickname an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] unless I was asked but I could see it turning into [name_f]Liza[/name_f] when talking fast.
I’d use the full name if I met an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
I might use ‘Liza’ or ‘Lila’ if I was to nickname her
I had a friend [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] (which was her full name - not short for Elizabeth!!)
Everyone simply called her [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] with no nn!!
In my mind [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is already a nickname for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] so I wouldn’t shorten it intuitively
but it’s definitely also able to stand alone! Such a pretty, lively name!
I wouldn’t officially nickname an [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] but I could see myself saying something like “Hey [name_f]El[/name_f], can you pass me the salt?”
I voted for [name_f]Liza[/name_f] but personally, I would use [name_u]Eli[/name_u] (e lye) as a nickname for [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. Not everyone’s cup of tea, I know, but a friend’s mother growing up was named [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] nn [name_u]Eli[/name_u] and I’ve loved it ever since
If I had a daughter named [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], she’d probably be [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] in most settings–at school, and formally. But I would probably call her [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elle[/name_f] occasionally, like after she falls off her bike (“You okay, El?”) or telling her goodnight (“'Night, Ellie.”)
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is already a nn.
