WOW Factor Names

What are your “WOW [name]Factor[/name]” names? I realize this can mean very different things to different people, but tell me what it means to you!

I have a soft spot for longer more ‘statement-y’ names although I can’t really see myself using them. Names like [name]Persephone[/name], [name]Hermione[/name], [name]Penelope[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], [name]Ginevra[/name].

Longer names with a distinct girly sound, i think ‘statement’ (hwj185) names sum it up pretty well.

[name]Guinevere[/name]
Geniveve
[name]Evangeline[/name]
[name]Isabella[/name]
Annavieve
[name]Gwendolyn[/name]
[name]Giselle[/name]
[name]Tatiana[/name]
[name]Veronique[/name]

I have a very wide variety of names that I love. I really love classic and soft names such as [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Eloise[/name], and [name]Lilah[/name]. But I also really love unique and spunky names like [name]Stella[/name], [name]Brynn[/name], [name]Kennedy[/name], [name]Emerson[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Addison[/name], [name]Brooklyn[/name], and [name]Cadence[/name]. I’m very open to all types of names

I am not sure which names I would say have the wow factor… I don’t even think the majority of my favorites ([name]Isabelle[/name], [name]Arianne[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Violet[/name], [name]Rachel[/name], [name]Daphne[/name], [name]Magda[/name], etc.) have the wow factor… I just happen to love them the most. And then some names that I feel should be impressive (something like [name]Penelope[/name] or [name]Juliet[/name]), while nice, just don’t manage to wow me at all.

I guess I would probably be wowed if I met a little girl with these names:
[name]Genevieve[/name]
[name]Ophelia[/name]
[name]Emilia[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Lilibet[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] (but I think I only would be wowed by the sweet nn [name]Ella[/name]… [name]Ellie[/name]/[name]Elle[/name]/[name]Lea[/name]/[name]Norah[/name] do nothing for me here…)
[name]Gwendolyn[/name]/[name]Winnie[/name]/[name]Leni[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]

Something along those lines, I would think.

Strong, sturdy names that are still very feminine: [name]Katharine[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Josephine[/name] (and many many more)

For me, the names with real WOW factor are those that are distinctly feminine, but also have historical depth, have survived centuries or are from a mythology.

For example, I’ve met little girls with these names, and I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped at hearing their names the first time:

[name]Isis[/name]
[name]Persephone[/name]
[name]Claudia[/name]
[name]Anastasia[/name]

Uncommon names that aren’t typically used: [name]Minerva[/name], [name]Guinevere[/name], [name]Magdalena[/name], [name]Elspeth[/name], [name]Marguerite[/name], [name]Agatha[/name], [name]Joy[/name], [name]June[/name], [name]Iris[/name], [name]Indigo[/name], [name]Francesca[/name], [name]Betty[/name], [name]Mamie[/name], [name]Penelope[/name]. Some are a pleasant wow and others like these names would be an unpleasant, surprised “wow”: [name]Barbara[/name], [name]Deborah[/name], [name]Carol[/name], [name]Judith[/name], [name]Doris[/name], [name]Ida[/name], [name]Geraldine[/name], [name]Lois[/name], [name]Kathy[/name], [name]Hilda[/name], [name]Harriet[/name], [name]Joyce[/name], [name]Norma[/name], [name]Wilma[/name]

For me, WOW [name]Factor[/name] names are the names you hear and think, “WOW! That’s so cool! I wish I’d thought of that!” I can’t think of any female examples, but I know a woman who named her son [name]Jericho[/name] Fury, and another who went with [name]Ridley[/name] [name]Grey[/name]. Not necessarily names I would use, but they definitely have the WOW [name]Factor[/name] for me.

Athénaïs, Bérengère and [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Sophie[/name] all have a wow factor especially when paired with a simpler name like [name]Josephine[/name] or [name]Myriam[/name].

I dont know if many of my favorite names have a real wow factor. I think because I gravitate towards “classically pretty” names, I’m wowed when I meet a little girl with a unique sounding name/nickname or something that just makes me happy to say, soft spot for when double names just work.

I met a little girl named [name]Scottie[/name]-[name]Marie[/name] the other day, that to me was a wow!

I think long, elegant, princess sounding names that you don’t hear often are my WOW names. [name]Juliette[/name], [name]Genevieve[/name], [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Esmeralda[/name]… [name]Isabella[/name] would have been on my list of WOW names if it wasn’t so darn popular.

My wow names have been in the “T” family lately! A wow name to me is one I love, but am not quite “brave” enough to do.
[name]Teodora[/name]
[name]Thessaly[/name]
[name]Tanwen[/name]

[name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Gwendolen[/name], [name]Anastasia[/name], [name]Guinevere[/name], Calpurnia, [name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Flavia[/name]…basically names that are longer, princess-y and unexpected!

I think mine would be the distinctly old-fashioned names … names like [name]Beatrice[/name], [name]Winifred[/name], [name]Rosalind[/name], [name]Irene[/name].

[name]Fancy[/name] names like [name]Guinevere[/name], [name]Esmerelda[/name], [name]Ariadne[/name], [name]Catarina[/name], Teadora, Wilhemina, [name]Anastasia[/name], and [name]Berenice[/name].
