Wren for a boy?

What are your thoughts on [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for a boy? Is it still usable as a unisex name or has it strayed too far to the girls’ side of things?

I love that name, and I prefer it better for a boy than a girl.

I like it okay. I really liked @meganleda’s combo of [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] a while back! I prefer [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on a girl, but I think it works just fine for a boy, and I vastly prefer the avian [name_u]Wren[/name_u] to the more Japanese (I think?) [name_u]Ren[/name_u]. I think it’s fine, but I personally would lean toward it for a girl.

I really like [name_u]Ren[/name_u] for a boy and would choose that. For me, [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is all-girl and [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is all-boy.

I love [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for a boy!!! I had [name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] in my combos for a while! I much prefer it on a boy. And as someone mentioned to me when I was concerned about it, [name_u]Wren[/name_u] isn’t all that heard of or popular outside of nameberry, so if you give it to a boy that will be the gender it’s most likely associated with for your circle of people.

I like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for a boy. But Renton and [name_u]Ren[/name_u] are super okay too.

Super handsome! I think it’s just fine on a boy. And like previously mentioned, while I see [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on name sites every once in a while, I’ve never actually met one. Closest I’ve come to was [name_u]Ren[/name_u] from Footloose, I think…
[name_u]Ren[/name_u] is another idea, usually assumed boy, but while it sounds the same, I can tell it doesn’t really ‘feel’ the same as [name_u]Wren[/name_u].
So if you love it, go for it!

I love the name on a boy. Of course I heard it on Pretty [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars (a male character) before I started reading the forums here (where it is typically used for girls).

I admit, I hadn’t really thought about it until now. But I really like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] for a boy, and I prefer it over [name_u]Ren[/name_u].

I like it for both. I don’t think it’s too girly. There’s [name_u]Ren[/name_u] from Footloose.

[name_u]Love[/name_u]! I know someone with [name_u]Ren[/name_u] as his middle name. I prefer [name_u]Wren[/name_u] spelling and [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is different culturally so I’d feel more comfortable using [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. I know a little boy named Wrennen, as well.

I adore [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on a boy! It has the perfect amount of spunk, but still sounds sweet.

If you’re afraid that people will find it too “feminine”, [name_u]Ren[/name_u] would be a great option as well. Like pps have mentioned.

I find that [name_u]Wren[/name_u] spelt this way makes me think of a female and [name_u]Ren[/name_u] makes it more masculine. IMHO. I do like the sound [name_u]Wren[/name_u]/[name_u]Ren[/name_u] for either gender.

Personally [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is one of my favorites for a girl, but I do think [name_u]Ren[/name_u] works well on a boy. For me the spelling makes a big difference. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] looks very feminine to me, but [name_u]Ren[/name_u] is much more masculine.

It’s all girl to me since the only [name_u]Wren[/name_u]'s I know are girls…

[name_u]Wren[/name_u] would be a great choice for a boy! It’s a nameberry favorite for girls, but honestly I don’t think there are enough little Wrens in the world for it to have a firm gender association just yet.

I think [name_u]Wren[/name_u] works well for either a boy or a girl. I like it either way, but do prefer it on a boy myself - it’s rather unexpected on a boy, and I like that.

I love it as a nickname for [name_m]Warren[/name_m] or [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u]. As a standalone I’m worried it’s a little too far gone to the girls. I’d still be happy to meet a little boy named [name_u]Wren[/name_u] though.

definitely still usable for a boy

Usable for a boy? Sure. Preferable? Not really.

Maybe as a nickname for [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] or [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], but as a standalone name, it’s all girl to me. Probably because I know a few little girls named [name_u]Wren[/name_u].

HOWEVER, I do love [name_u]Ren[/name_u] for a boy. Not sure why, but the spelling makes a difference to me.
