Personally I prefer the spelling [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. If you’re worried it sounds too feminine, an idea is to give a traditionally masculine middle name. For example:
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Matthias[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Antony[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Dominic[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] [name_m]Emmanuel[/name_m]
To me, [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a girl’s name. I’ve only run into female Wrens in real life and have never heard of it being used for a boy. [name_u]Ren[/name_u], on the other hand, is a great boy’s name. Both as a stand alone or as a nickname for [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], [name_m]Warren[/name_m], etc.
I think [name_u]Wren[/name_u]/[name_u]Ren[/name_u] is a name like [name_u]Reese[/name_u]/[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]. The sound is totally unisex, but spelling is not. I consider [name_u]Wren[/name_u] much more feminine and [name_u]Ren[/name_u] more masculine. So I vote [name_u]Ren[/name_u].
I think of [name_u]Ren[/name_u] from Footloose ([name_m]Kevin[/name_m] Bacon’s character) when spelled that way. [name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
[name_u]Ren[/name_u] gets my vote! If I saw [name_u]Wren[/name_u] I would automatically assume it was for a girl.
I think of [name_u]Wren[/name_u] as totally unisex. It’s a nature name that (unlike say, [name_f]Violet[/name_f]) doesn’t seem particularly masculine or feminine. It also makes me think of [name_m]Christopher[/name_m] [name_u]Wren[/name_u], the architect. I wouldn’t think twice if I met a boy named [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. [name_u]Ren[/name_u], on the other hand, makes me think of [name_u]Ren[/name_u] and Stimpy. But that may be a dated reference.
I definitely prefer [name_u]Ren[/name_u] for a boy. I’ve heard it as a Japanese boy’s name before. [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is all girl to me.
I like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] on a boy.
To me, [name_u]Ren[/name_u] looks like it should be short for something, but [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a full name in its own right. I don’t think it’s too feminine - there was a guy [name_u]Wren[/name_u] in the first season of Pretty [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars so to me it’s very usable for a boy.
I see it as unisex too. I’ve heard of it used for both, but I’ve met a couple boy Wrens and no girls with the name.
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] is all girl to me but I love [name_u]Ren[/name_u] for a boy! I also like @pansy’s suggest of [name_m]Warren[/name_m] or [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] with the nn [name_u]Ren[/name_u] if you wanted a longer option. [name_u]Ren[/name_u] on its own is great though.
I love [name_u]Wren[/name_u] and consider it totally unisex. [name_u]Ren[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]Ren[/name_u] & Stimpy so I’d never use it. I also feel that [name_u]Ren[/name_u] looks incomplete & nickname-y while [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a full name.
[name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_u]Wren[/name_u] sound feminine? I think it’s a fine name for a boy.
I think either would work just fine. However, I personally prefer [name_u]Ren[/name_u] on a boy, especially as a nickname for [name_u]Kieran[/name_u]/[name_m]Kieren[/name_m]. Both are cute names for either gender though!
I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] nn [name_u]Ren[/name_u] or [name_u]Wren[/name_u] but I do find that [name_u]REN[/name_u] for some reason seems a bit more masculine to me!
