character is oldest of three sisters, she is pale with hazel eyes, wears glasses and has dark brown wavy hair cut just past her chin.
she wears a lot of cozy jumpers and cardigans, the kind that you’d find second hand, books and literature are key to her character. she would naturally come across quiet and serious to the casual observer, however, she is a big daydreamer and has an incredibly protective nature concerning her younger sisters. she feels as though it’s her responsibility to make every correct choice to help her sisters have the best life and she tries to shield them from the bad parts of the world around them.
setting is rural uk, time period is purposefully ambiguous, so i’ve tried to use somewhat timeless or vintage inspired names. sisters names are rosemary (rose) and flora.

character is a quick-witted woman of color at the turn of the century (1902) and is very involved in feminism and equality
currently, her name is gwendolyn jane, which will stay for reasons disclosed in the story, and is currently nicknamed as wendy… i’m not a huge fan of the nickname as of now
siblings are emilia ‘milly’, margot ‘meg’, and rebecca ‘becky’
which nickname should she have?

I have an issue regarding pronunciation in Tolkien’s elvish languages, which is probably not standard fodder for this thread, but bear with me, please. I have a character named Celetira, and I invented the name pronouncing it as ‘sel-eh-TEER-ah’. However, it has recently come to my attention that in elvish languages, ‘c’ is always pronounced like ‘k’, like how in the books/movies Celeborn is pronounced like Keleborn, not Seleborn. I don’t mind the ‘Keletira’ pronunciation, but I don’t want to spell it like that, and my dad told me to pick the more intuitive thing, so how would you pronounce Celetira?

if it’s a tolkien/lotr setting i’d say keletira; if it’s any other setting i’d say seletira
yeah that’s kinda what I was thinking. the problem is that this is a d&d setting, pretty much, so I don’t know if I’m supposed to go with [name_m]Tolkien[/name_m] or, you know, everybody else xD
In that case you can probably stick with the seletira pronunciation (as long as any other names with “ce” are pronounced “se”)

Not a name post, but I’m running out of ideas of where to ask this question and running out of time to ask it in.
Mirror scenes: is it appropriate to describe a character’s appearance using a mirror scene when that character suffers hallucinations? So, for example, the ‘first’ description he gives of his hair and eyes (and other details) is hallucinated. When he actually looks away from the mirror, he reflects on the accurate description, since there’s nothing there to really prove him wrong now.
Does that make any sense?
(I plan to not use mirror scenes for the other POV characters, but I was wondering how ‘okay’ this was.)
