Writers' Quick Poll Thread

Forgot I made this poll last night and went with Ballantyne. Oop-:speak_no_evil:

Well, that was my second pick

Does [name_f]Attie[/name_f] make sense as a nn for [name_u]Artemis[/name_u]?

  • Yes, makes perfect sense
  • I guess it could work
  • It’s a but of a stretch
  • I don’t think it works
  • Absolutely doesn’t work

Can’t use [name_u]Ari[/name_u].

Is it too much to have 3 main characters with 1-syllable names? (The names are [name_f]Luz[/name_f], [name_f]Elle[/name_f], and [name_u]Cass[/name_u]. I would change [name_u]Cass[/name_u]’ name).

  • Yes, it’s too much
  • No, it’s not too much
  • I wouldn’t even notice

So, I need a character name! Here’s a little background: The main character of the story is going to be the mother of this character. Her name is [name_f]Leah[/name_f] [name_u]Quinn[/name_u] Feldman and she is married to [name_u]Connor[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] Feldman. [name_f]Leah[/name_f] is kind of shy and really smart. [name_u]Connor[/name_u] is funny and sometimes stubborn but he cares deeply about [name_f]Leah[/name_f]. [name_f]Leah[/name_f] has a fraternal twin sister named [name_u]Skylar[/name_u] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] [name_u]Callahan[/name_u], who is like [name_f]Leah[/name_f]’s polar opposite. She is sassy and outgoing, and she is very protective of her loved ones. She is married to [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] [name_u]Callahan[/name_u] and they have a 3 year old daughter named [name_f]Bianca[/name_f] [name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] [name_u]Callahan[/name_u]. [name_f]Leah[/name_f] wants to name her daughter something not too crazy but not too plain either- she always envied how much attention her sister got. [name_u]Connor[/name_u] wants her to be named something more unique, but [name_f]Leah[/name_f] says not too weird. What should her first name be? (I’ll do a middle name one later).

Curious what other writers prefer!

  • Arisenna “[name_u]Aris[/name_u]”
  • Aristia “[name_u]Aris[/name_u]”
  • A different name with nn [name_u]Aris[/name_u] (@ me!)

([name_f]Sister[/name_f] set)
  • Arisenna “[name_u]Aris[/name_u]” & Aveyard “[name_f]Avia[/name_f]”
  • Aristia “[name_u]Aris[/name_u]” & Aveyard “[name_f]Avia[/name_f]”
  • A different name [name_u]Aris[/name_u] is short for & Aveyard “[name_f]Avia[/name_f]” (@ me!)

@winterara the first thought I had was Aristela which I think is easier on the eye than Aristia (presuming the name will mostly be read on paper rather than heard aloud). Arisenna has an interesting sound and feels quite spunky too!

Aveyard nn [name_f]Avia[/name_f] is awesome.

I went ahead and made up a huge list of [name_u]Aris[/name_u]- names today and [name_f]Aristella[/name_f] / Aristela is on there. It’s nice to hear that someone else thought of it too! thank you for weighing in! (And thanks about Aveyard! I also love her name :relaxed:)

I would change [name_f]Emma[/name_f] to [name_f]Emily[/name_f].

Sibset: [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_u]Riley[/name_u] (g), and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] “[name_u]Izzy[/name_u]”

  • Yes!
  • No, you should change [name_u]Riley[/name_u] to __
  • No, you should change [name_u]Izzy[/name_u] to __

Modern, trendy, and/or popular names are what I’m going for (not vintage though!)

(Posted this on the regular Quick [name_u]Poll[/name_u] Thread too, but curious what others writers that may not frequent that thread think!)

They work, though I feel like something like [name_f]Mia[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] & [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] would go better.

  • Mia, [name_u]Riley[/name_u], and [name_f]Isabel[/name_f] “[name_u]Izzy[/name_u]”
