Hey guys! I am in a creative writing competition with my church. I need [name_m]Christian[/name_m] writing prompts. Ideas??
I don’t have any (sorry!) but I wanted to suggest having a look on Tumblr or even Pinterest for ideas. Good luck writing!
I don’t think I’ve ever come across specifically christian writing prompts either…
a quick google search turned this up: Writing Prompts from the Life of Christ
But I think any child-friendly writing prompt would do!
Going off the top of my head here…
If you want to go the supernatural route, write a story of a family in a crime-ridden, desolate town. People feel hopeless and they try hard to fight all the crime but it keeps getting worse. Some kid who grew up there starts telling people he can see demons everywhere and tells what they’re doing. People think he’s schizophrenic and try to get him help, but it turns out he’s a legit prophet or he has some spiritual gift that lets him see real demons which are causing all the crime and unrest. Ultimately the people must learn they have to rely on God and His armies to get rid of the demons, and not on their own strength.
If you want a non-supernatural, regular [name_m]Christian[/name_m] route, write a story of a group of high school or college friends who keep trying to get their atheist friend to go to church with them. Nothing they do works: playing up the good quality music, claiming they have answers or help, playing up the angle of it being a group activity for all of them and that she’ll be left out. Ultimately it takes something unexpected or even subtle (not a crisis…maybe just a moment in nature), and she’s alone when she first feels the Holy [name_f]Spirit[/name_f] with her. She tells her friends and they begin to all understand what sharing a faith journey in community means even more than they did already.
Tumblr. Pinterest. They have EVERYTHING you need I swear! I use Pinterest all the times, but i see screen shots of tumblr on pinterest so…? <3
